OVERVIEW

The Make It Reporter will be responsible for pitching and creating content related to workplace and professional success, money and career matters, entrepreneurs and start-ups for young and/or aspirational readers. The ideal candidate will have strong reporting skills, as well as a knack for making complex subjects interesting and relatable. Candidates with more experience will be considered for a correspondent role in Make It.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate intriguing Make It content across multiple media, including written articles, and original digital videos
  • Operate in a way that demonstrates strong independent thinking in terms of news judgment, while remaining responsive to editors and their requirements
  • Monitor the evolution of CNBC\'s Make It franchise as exhibited both internationally and in the United States, with an eye toward understanding best practices that keep content fresh, relevant and compelling, especially to an international audience
  • Ensure stories are packaged with relevant videos, graphics and appropriate links to CNBC.com
  • Generate story ideas relating to employment trends, success in work and life, money management, and start-ups and entrepreneurs
  • Report, write, and create digital content for CNBC Make It
  • Use social media to distribute and promote content
Qualifications

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS
  • In-depth understanding of CNBC\'s Make It franchise with a strong news sense, especially for trends in the job market, investing and social media
  • Ability to operate as an independent contributor, generating story ideas
  • Previous experience as a writer/reporter, preferably within the Make It franchise or with a close external equivalent
  • Ability to seek out Make It story ideas independently, without excessive influence from external PR organizations
  • Ability to perform and multi-task under pressure
  • Passion for storytelling, in written words, script and video images
  • An independent, motivated, organized, detail-oriented individual who possesses outstanding communication skills
  • Proven ability to report and write clean, clear and accurate copy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven news environment
  • Experience working at a digital media outlet, such as an online news site or financial publication
  • A clear understanding of CNBC\xe2\x80\x99s editorial and programming priorities
  • Knowledge and interest in business and financial news is preferred
  • Experience in working with content management systems desirable
  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to speak at least one other Asian or European language is an advantage
  • A flexible attitude to working different shifts occasionally when required
