The Role
The Singapore Gastric Cancer Consortium (SGCC) is a translational research group comprising clinicians and scientists working in gastric cancer research. The group aims to solve important clinical questions to improve the care of gastric cancer patients, facilitated by close interaction between clinicians and scientists, and with synergism that enables biologic discoveries in the laboratory to be validated in the clinical setting. Our research theme, \xe2\x80\x9cBringing Discoveries to Patients\xe2\x80\x9d was awarded the Open Fund - Large Collaborative Grant (LCG) by the National Medical Research Council. This will spearhead key research projects which include molecular testing for gastric cancer prevention, personalized cancer therapy and treatment, characterization of gastric stem cells, and single cell analysis of gastric cancers.
Besides LCG, we have been awarded with IAF-ICP grant, it is a collaboration with 3 academic institution and 2 private companies. The main objective is to propose further develop and validate a blood-based diagnostic miRNA panel for early detection of colorectal cancer. NUS as the host institution plays a significant role in steering the Research towards its intended objectives.
