What the role is:[What the role is]The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, safeguards the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes and works closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare. It is the main touch-point on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the first responder for all animal-related feedback. It also conducts public education and engagement programmes to foster a humane and gracious society for all, where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in greater harmony within our City in Nature.[What you will be working on]You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the animal health programmes in AVS. You will be working on Veterinary Professional Standards Development, and the raising of standards for veterinary care in Singapore such as development of codes of best practice and guidelines for the veterinary sector, to ensure that animal health and welfare is safeguarded.You will be responsible for coordination of inputs from NParks on country-level assessments on animal health systems, and the assessments for regionalisation arrangements with trading partners for infectious diseases. This will involve reviewing animal health systems of other countries, particularly the surveillance and control measures for animal diseases, and recognition of regionalization measures for specific diseases. You will be providing technical inputs for animal health assessments for audits conducted as part of establishing new sources of food animals and their products, or companion animals.Specific projects on the development of guidelines for clinical veterinary work;

  • Review of veterinary regulations and international veterinary standards.
  • Support the drafting of legislation for the veterinary sector
  • Review of regulations for Veterinary sector and Animal Health
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Providing inputs and coordinating comments on assessments of animal health systems of trading partners
  • Drafting and writing of guidelines, reports and documents
  • Planning and organisation of communications and engagement sessions with stakeholders
  • Tracking of reports and notifications of relevant diseases
  • Data collection and research
  • Participate in field investigations during disease outbreaks
  • Carrying out administrative tasks and other duties as required to ensure daily function of the branch
[What are we looking for]
  • Degree in Veterinary Science, Biology, Sciences or related fields
  • Candidates with relevant working experience in the veterinary or medical sector preferred
  • Highly motivated individual with passion for engagement and communications
  • Team player with initiative, drive and good interpersonal/communication skills and able to work independently
  • Candidates with sound applied knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
