Job Description


As part of the Business Development Team, you will support the expansion of the Digital (Electronics/Audio/Computer/Mobile) and Home & Living Categories. You will need to develop and execute business strategies to grow the domestic and travel retail marketplace businesses for these categories. As part of your role, you will also be responsible for strategizing category mix, curating suitable merchandising and merchant mix, with a focus on the mid/high-end ECP segment. In addition, you will also prospect, on-board and ensure partnership sustenance with merchants to improve business performance. You will be closely supported by our in-house marketing and operations teams.

To excel in this role, you should be passionate about category, possess strong industry and brand contacts, have good business acumen and preferably with prior experience in sales and marketing. You should be adept at managing stakeholders at different levels and be comfortable in analytics.

Roles & Responsibilities:
As the Category Manager, you will develop the growth strategy and conduct competitive analysis of the business landscape to identify competition and growth opportunities. You will lead the translation of plans into execution, including leads cultivation, driving negotiation and contracting of partnerships. Specifically, this includes:

1. P&L Responsibility:
\xc2\xb7 Responsible for P&L of the categories under your care
\xc2\xb7 Devise and implement the merchandising mix and onboarding strategy to achieve the sales, revenue and category leadership performance in the trade
\xc2\xb7 Responsible for Category Performance Analysis & Reporting

2. Merchant Acquisition:
\xc2\xb7 To lead the merchant acquisition efforts including prospecting, negotiating and development of necessary marketing tools
\xc2\xb7 To be responsible for the merchant onboarding up to point of contracting and / or renewals, before handing over to the Operations Team for on-boarding ops and day-to-day support

3. Account Management:
\xc2\xb7 In charge of the accounts and sales targets of merchants under your care
\xc2\xb7 Continually review the performance of your merchants, work together to strategically conceive new business ideas to grow performance which may include range expansion, marketing or partnerships etc.
\xc2\xb7 You should maintain good business relationship and provide value-add to your partners to improve performance on the platform

4. Business Development:
\xc2\xb7 Work closely with the Business Head to develop new business ideas to improve performance
\xc2\xb7 Drive the entire business pitch and implementation for new ideas such as business case analysis, seeking management buy-in, operationalisation and budget / ROI management

5. Key Performance Measurements include:

\xc2\xb7 Product Range Expansion
\xc2\xb7 First-to-Launch or Exclusive Brands / Products / Concepts introduced

\xc2\xb7 New Business Development Ideas & Implementations

Requirements:
\xc2\xb7 Degree Holder with at least 5 to 7 years\' of relevant experience
\xc2\xb7 Merchandising, eCommerce and/or marketplace experience is necessary, preferably also having worked in sales and marketing
\xc2\xb7 Have strong industry networks and contacts
\xc2\xb7 Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
\xc2\xb7 A goal getter who is also a strong team player
