Hilton\xe2\x80\x99s Asia Pacific (APAC) Communications team forms part of a dynamic and global team of communicators who play an integral role in the company\xe2\x80\x99s storytelling \xe2\x80\x93 with a strong focus on growth, innovation and purpose.

We are recruiting for a Manager of Communications to join Hilton\xe2\x80\x99s regional team delivering on corporate and consumer PR activities across South East Asia (SEA) as well as manage issues and crisis communications across the wider APAC region, with a focus on SEA. Working closely with various business functions as part of a dynamic team, you will support the communication of Hilton\xe2\x80\x99s impressive growth story, manage various high-profile new hotel openings and deliver creative PR activities.

Issues and crisis management will also be a key focus, with the successful candidate formulating quick-response plans and partnering with team members across the organization on response efforts. Your skills range from \xe2\x80\x9cfire fighter\xe2\x80\x9d to \xe2\x80\x9cstoryteller.\xe2\x80\x9d We want a person who can guide our hotels through any issues but do so with an aspirational narrative \xe2\x80\x93 you will understand that the best way to solve a crisis is to build a story that builds reputation over time.

This job requires a seasoned communications practitioner with the ability to influence across all levels of our matrixed team from local hotels through to the senior executive. You will have demonstrated issues management and crisis communications experience within a well-established / renowned brand.

The role reports to the Senior Manager of Communications - SEA, working closely with regional communications colleagues.

What will I be doing?

As the Manager, Communications - SEA, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Consumer Communications

  • Take responsibility for communications activity for various new hotel openings and ongoing consumer PR across the region to drive press and influencer support, working directly with on-property marketing communications teams and provide guidance on hotel PR plans and source market PR activity
  • Nurture and maintain strong media / influencer relationships, respond to enquiries as well as manage the regional media database
  • Strong understanding of the media and social media landscape across SEA and the wider APAC region
  • Review and edit key hotel content like press releases and talking points
  • Develop toolkits for hotels to help with opening PR efforts as well as ongoing efforts
  • Be a source of counsel for hotels who are looking to increase consumer awareness and preference for their brands
Crisis communications
  • Be the point of contact providing analysis and counsel to our SEA hotels during times of crisis and manage development of crisis response strategies, reactive statements, FAQs and other deliverables as needed, in line with Hilton global protocols
  • Development of hotel communications playbook for issues and crisis
  • Development of an APAC specific media statement libraries in line with Hilton global statements
  • Work with the relevant departments (including safety and security and operations) to gather information to respond to media on issues and crisis
  • Work with legal to secure sign off on all media statements
  • Create briefings on all issues and crisis for senior management
  • Regularly conduct vulnerability assessments and develop contingency communications plans to address the most regular incidents and crisis
This role will support Senior Manager, Communications - SEA to develop and execute plans for the full spectrum of communications across Hilton\xe2\x80\x99s SEA region.
  • Day to day, you will also be responsible for managing Hilton\xe2\x80\x99s agency network, and ensuring return on investment and delivery of results within budget
  • Manage public relations agencies and external vendors in delivering corporate and brand activities
  • Distribute press releases and monitoring media coverage
  • Provide event management and support key activities as required
  • Responsible for key success and achievement reports
What are we looking for?

A Manager, Communications - SEA serving Hilton Brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviors, skills, and values that follow:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree
  • At least 6 years of experience in communications
  • Superior writing skills
  • Track record of delivering integrated communications campaigns, successfully managing communications during times of crisis in a global, matrixed environment
  • Good media relationships and sound understanding of media landscapes
  • Experience managing internal and executive stakeholders
  • Experience of working in or across multiple markets
  • Preferably business proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English
  • Highly collaborative and an ability to work with colleagues from different parts of the business and region
  • Ability to travel overseas
