As the lead for the University’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy and plans in Singapore, the manager will work closely with University leadership to develop a compelling CSR strategy that is closely aligned with our 10-strategic plan. The CSR strategy will support the University’s vision and mission and make a lasting social impact to Singapore, the local and regional educational landscape and other adjacent businesses. The outcomes of the CSR portfolio must also generate strong impact in building our brand reputation and employee engagement.

Role and Responsibilities: This is a pioneering role that requires the CSR lead to gather relevant insights, challenges and opportunities that will launch our University’s strategic CSR initiative with well thought-out and relevant CSR priorities. Working closely with the Director of Communications and a core team, the CSR Manager will represent the University in Singapore communities; and build strong partnerships with key stakeholders such as policymakers and key government representatives, industry partners and providers, not-for-profit organizations, other educational institutions, student and alumni communities. The role will require demonstrated understanding of SUSS brand image and corporate character, especially while designing CSR strategies and solutions to address social challenges and opportunities. The manager will leverage internal resources and other new initiatives at the University level (for eg. applied research, SUSS Student Service Learning, Entrepreneurship, and new projects on campus planning) to formulate and implement a differentiated CSR and communications plan. These efforts must in turn attract media attention while leveraging social media to position SUSS as a leading University for lifelong learning and social impact.

Job Requirements


To be successful in role, candidates will need:
  • At least 8 – 10 years of relevant CSR experience and with the ability to design and execute Corporate Citizenship/CSR programs and activities
  • Deep knowledge of CSR/public policy issues/ education landscape in Singapore and how institution of higher learning can engage with business and the extended community to contribute to positive social impact in the areas of education and skills, ESG and community resilience.
  • Strong networks within public policy and CSR communities in Singapore and the region, with foundational skills in the CSR and communications domain areas. Proven experience in leveraging such networks and relationships to support University’s employee participation in giving and volunteering.
  • Strong communications and negotiation skills to achieve alignment amongst stakeholders and leverage CSR social outcomes for positive business outcomes, including brand and employee engagement.
  • Ability to work independently while leveraging a larger matrix network of team members, driving projects to achieve goals and measurable outcomes employees
  • Demonstrate experience establishing CSR metrics, jointly with the community and colleagues, based on outcomes and measures of success related to priority focus areas
