Job LocationFlexible within Asia PacificJob PurposeEnsure that the handling of hazardous cargo in DHL Global Forwarding is consistently compliant to all legal guidelines and requirements. The Dangerous Goods Manager is responsible for making sure safe and compliant handling of Dangerous Goods according to global protocols in coordination with relevant stakeholders within a specific region.This also entails functioning as an intermediary between the global DG team and the country organisations as well as monitoring consistent training.The role is responsible for both Air Freight and Ocean Freight and requires active collaboration and alignment with the operations functions in both products.Key Tasks- Collaborate with global Dangerous Goods manager to facilitate needs and requirements from countries within specific region- Support countries with implementation of global Dangerous Goods standards and their individual training needs- Monitor application of global Dangerour Goods standards, identify gaps or non-compliance issues and work with relevant stakeholders to address them- Provide support on issues and problems for less established country organisations- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with the handling and transportation of dangerous goods within the region. Alert risks to global team and implement strategies to mitigate risks.- DG user management and coordination on regional level- Produce regional DG reports as specified and agreed on with global team- Collect feedback from country organisations and align with global team to ensure continouus improvement of functional processes- Monitor changes in DG regulations on country and / or regional level and notify global team if impacting global framework / processes- Lead regular update meetings with country DG managers across the region to enhance communication across geographies and ensure regulatory compliance- Align with regional Marketing & Sales for Dangerous Goods specific matters- Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to understand their needs, gather requirements, and manage expectations- Stay updated on industry trends: Stay informed about industry best practices, rules and regulations, emerging technologies, and trends in digitalization to ensure the organization remains competitive, innovative and compliant.Differentiator (skills, experience, knowledge)- Industry knowledge and experience: Solid understanding of the specifics of the forwarding industry including (but not limited to) rules and regulations, industry practices etc.- Extensive expertise in the transport of Dangerous Goods and strong understanding of import regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements- Project management expertise: strong project management skills, effectively planning, organizing, and executing projects from start to finish.- Business acumen: Deep understanding of the organization\'s business goals and objectives, allowing the person to align technology solutions with strategic initiatives and drive value for the business.- Technical knowledge: Solid understanding of technology and IT systems, enabling effective communication and collaboration with technical teams, as well as informed decision making regarding solution design and implementation.- Stakeholder management: Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including business leaders, clients, vendors, and internal teams. They can effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Stakeholders- Convince other subject matter experts to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches- May cooperate with and coordinate 3rd parties e.g. external service providers- Build strong, trusting cross-functional relationships with DHL managers- Understand customer and key stakeholders interests and concerns and advise direct reports, customers and key stakeholders- Provide technical guidance to line managers and employeesManagement Responsibility- Individual contributor who may manage two or fewer employees- May direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs- Coach, review and delegate work to lower level professionalsEducation/Qualification Requirements- Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience/qualification- More than 6 years relevant experience preferably in forwarding logistic and process improvement- Preferably supervisory or team lead experience- Work experience in the Asia Pacific region would be a distinct advantage
