JOB SCOPE

Summary of Key Responsibilities

The Retail Manager is a senior role within Hotel Operations. He/She will be head of department of the Hotel Retail division, overseeing all Marina Bay Sands owned retail outlets. The outlets comprise of three permanent stores and temporary stores setup in partnership with major exhibitions within the resort.

The Manager will report to the Executive Director, Hotel Operations, and is required to achieve positive financial results including revenue, expenses and profit margin. The post-holder is also responsible for leading the team to achieve all SMART goals around the key focus areas of Customer Experience/Revenue Growth, Operational Excellence and Innovation, People/Employee Experience, Development Excellence and CSR.

He/She is required to work closely with relevant departments such as Finance, Brands & Advertising, E-commerce, Legal, Procurement and Supply Chain. As such, the post-holder must be a good team-worker, able to communicate and collaborate readily.

Job Responsibilities

Budget Management

  • Prepares budget and manage department expenses by defining the business goals, identify costs and gather supporting data.
  • Responsible for departmental forecast by achiving accuracy of a company\'s budget plan and reduce the impact of unexpected challenges.
  • Responsibility for devising and monitoring the departmental P&L, including monthly expenditure and revenue reports.
Merchandising
  • Responsible for procuring and developing premium home-brand souvenirs that are aligned with brand requirements and relevant exhibition merchandise.
  • Develop business solutions by launching and operating the best products and experiences in the industry.
  • Responsible for all visual merchandising and advertising material to increase revenue.
  • Creating business partnerships with new vendors, and negotiating preferential prices.
  • Ensuring a strong rapport with vendors and stakeholders.
  • Achieving maximum potential profit margins for each product.
  • Undertaking market research independently for each product to ascertain exposure, pricing and potential best sellers.
Staff Management and Development
  • Assess on Team Members\' performance and appraising job results.
  • Recruiting and hiring the right fit for the retail guest service agent role.
  • Ensuring appropriate training and development is provided to all staff, including areas such as customer service, Point of Sale (POS) systems, and visual merchandising.
  • Ensure the team is appropriately motivated to drive sales and provide the high standards of customer service
  • Conduct regular coaching and counseling sessions to discuss on business development, personal development and service standards.
  • Develop service recovery framework.
  • Conduct service audits on Team Members.
  • Ensuring the philosophy of high service standards are understood and adopted by all staff
Management of Business
  • Finance management, including the submission of monthly accruals and other financial reports.
  • Responsibility for standard operating procedures, and ensuring efficient and effective operation procedures.
  • Supervising for inventory management and monthly stock-take audits.
  • Ensuring efficiency and cost controls are implemented across all the outlets.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential
  • At least 3 to 5 years managerial experience in retail or hospitality related industry
  • Familiar with financial budgeting, forecast and capital expenditure
  • Basic proficiency in SAP Ariba and Cognos
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software
  • The ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Excellent communication skills and strong commitment in the hospitality industry
  • The ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations
  • Able to perform shift work and work on weekends/public holidays
