Job Description


What the role is:Strategise, plan and work closely with stakeholders / partners / Grassroots Organisations to organise wide range of integrated programmes in Wisma Geylang Serai (WGS) to cater to the diverse needs and interests of the residents so as to widen community outreach and build social capital.What you will be working on

  • Assist Assistant Director in formulating strategies and programmes which will attract visitors\' participation and support customer relations, making WGS a focal point for national heritage and cultural programmes and activities.
  • Work closely with WGS Programmes Advisory Committee and PA MESRA to coordinate national programmes that will be held in WGS.
  • Work closely with the Geylang Serai Community Club and Co-Located Partners (CLPs) to co-ordinate local programmes that will be held in WGS for better synergy and to ensure that there is no duplication of programmes and that programmes in WGS that will complement the programmes held in the CC and CLPs.
  • Work closely with external and internal stakeholders (PA Divisions and Marine Parade GRC Grassroots Organisations) to plan and organise wide range of community programmes, leveraging on the integrated facilities, catering to the diverse needs and interests of the residents to widen outreach.
  • Promote community engagement by organising marquee cultural programmes in WGS such as Hari Raya Bazaar, Bulan Bahasa, Arts events etc.
  • Promote cultural awareness by organising regular programmes in WGS such as movie screenings, interest group performances and cultural groups performances.
  • Assist Assistant Director to plan and co-ordinate the recruitment, training, appointment and renewal of volunteers as part of the partnership duties to ensure a high-level of involvement and minority-group participation.
  • Assist Assistant Director to facilitate, motivate and guide volunteers as part of his customer relations duties to perform their key role as community organiser in building better relationships amongst visitors and enhancing closer partnerships with corporate and community stakeholders.
Inter-Agency Planning and Operations Groups (IPOG) staff are also to perform the following duties:To implement meaningful and innovative national and community programmes
  • Scheduled duties to cover weekday night programmes and weekend programmes.
  • Scheduled to manage and execute national programmes for WGS that requires multiple meetings, rehearsals and planning. Some of these events are Annual Bazaar, Monthly Cultural Events, Bulan Bahasa, etc.
To foster strong partnerships and networks
  • Appointed as secretariat to various committees such as Programme Advisory Committee, Precinct Development Inter-Agency Committee, Facilities Management Committee, Integrated Programming Committee, Kurnia Operations Committee and M3.
  • Scheduled to attend monthly CCC and CCMC meetings in the evenings.
  • Multiple ad-hoc \'after office hours\' engagements and meetings with Malay Muslim Organisations (MMOs), Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) and other non-government organisations whom are volunteers and can only meet after work.
To assist in facilities management services of common properties at Wisma Geylang Serai
  • Scheduled to perform random surprise checks on facilities, security, cleaning and tenants at odd hours.
To assist in the day to day operations of MMO office
  • Manage Kurnia (MMO Hub) as and when required of which operating hours are beyond office hours.
  • Assist Assistant Director in formulating strategies and programmes which will attract visitors\' participation and support customer relations, making WGS a focal point for national heritage and cultural programmes and activities.
Other duties
  • Performs other duties assigned by senior officers.
What we are looking forAt least two to five years of working experience in management position. Candidates with at least five years of field experience in grassroots organisations, programmes planning, marketing and communications will have an advantage.Resourceful in arts group networks and partnerships.Good inter-personal skills.Enjoy working with volunteers.Able to work independently.Excellent proficiency in the English language, both verbal and written and proficient in a second language - Malay.Willing to work on weekday evenings and weekends.Only shortlisted candidates will be notified. Shortlisted candidates will go through PA\'s structured interview.
