About Outward Bound Singapore - a division of NYC Outward Bound Singapore (OBS), is a member of Outward Bound International - a global network of Outward Bound schools operating in 34 countries. Established in 1967, OBS is recognised for its leading experience in outdoor education with more than 500,000 people trained. You will be part of the Marine & Logistics Operations team at OBS providing integrated support in logistics and small pleasure craft (up to approximately 20m) operations for the smooth running of all OBS programmes across all OBS campuses and area of operations.
What you will be working on:
As a Manager (Marine Operations), you will play a key role in the planning and execution of sea front operations, maintaining the operational readiness of the sea crafts and equipment, as well as ensure all required marine support are consistently and promptly met with high levels of safety, quality, service, and customer satisfaction. This is primarily achieved through effective contractor management to ensure that the services provided are of a high standard, as well as performing procurement processes such as drafting up of specifications and contracts to obtain new equipment and services. You are also expected to value add to the Marine Operations team and OBS in its transformation and expansion through the application of deep technical knowledge and experience. You will lead projects related to the marine operations, engaging internal stakeholders and external organisations in the Marine industry.
What we are looking for:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in performing maintenance of crafts, and/or managing a marina/shipyard/port operations - At least 2 years of experience in managing outsourced operations/vendors/contractors It will be advantageous to have the following: - Experience in leading maritime maintenance team, and managing marina/shipyard/port operations team; - Experience and skill in handling and/or maintaining small pleasure craft (up to approximately 20m), as well as connections to its industry/community - Educational background in maritime operations management. - Knowledge and experience in marine IC engines, electrical circuitry, seaborne systems, basic fluid and hydrodynamics, boat architecture and design, and maintenance level categorisation - Valid Class 3 Driving License and Powered Pleasure Craft Driving License (PPCDL) - Able to work under pressure and meet tight timelines. - Resourceful, organised and able to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. - Meticulous with good analytical and numerical skills. - Excellent communication, writing, and collaboration skill - A team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross function teams. - Able to travel by sea without motion sickness to OBS, Pulau Ubin. - Able to perform operations and supervision beyond the usual working hours in Pulau Ubin Campus during occasions and/or when need arises. - Able to work from any of OBS\' campuses / sites (e.g., Pulau Ubin, East Coast Campus, Punggol Reception, Changi, and OBS@Coney in the future).
