Job Description


Job PurposeWe are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented incumbent to drive the growth of our digital solutions portfolio for metro and rail applications. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in identifying, developing, and closing business opportunities within the digital landscape. This role requires strong strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of digital technologies and market trends. The incumbent will play a crucial role in expanding our client base, forging strategic partnerships, and maximizing revenue streams in the digital solutions sector.ResponsibilitiesMarket Research and Analysis

  • Conduct in-depth market research to identify new business opportunities and emerging trends in the digital solutions space.
  • Analyze market data, competitor strategies, and customer needs to develop insights and inform business development strategies.
Strategic Planning
  • Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve company objectives and revenue targets (including the development of goals, objectives, activities, revenue targets and key performance indicators). Create monthly dashboard and annual report progress.
  • Identify key target markets, industry verticals, and customer segments for digital solutions, and devise tailored approaches to penetrate these markets.
  • Conceptualising and implementing initiatives to build technology capabilities across SMRT Business Units.
  • Conduct an annual evaluation to help determine needed improvements and resources to improve outcome from collaboration projects.
Client Acquisition and Relationship Management
  • Proactively identify and engage potential clients, including enterprise-level businesses, SMEs, and startups, to promote digital solutions and secure new business opportunities.
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with clients, understanding their needs, challenges, and objectives, and positioning our digital solutions as strategic assets to address these requirements.
Partnership Development
  • Lead outreach activities, overseeing the writing of proposals and meeting with key clients and partners on a regular basis
  • Work collaboratively with the Development + Operations + Partnership to co-create an annual strategy to shape value creation targets and go-to-market strategy
  • Assist with budget request and coordinating project delivery team as needed
  • Commercialize capabilities and solutions developed for internal use to external customers.
  • Work with business development team as pre-sales consultant to develop technical solutions for tenders as well as develop costings and pricing tender for commercialization.
  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships with technology vendors, industry associations, and other relevant stakeholders to enhance our digital solutions offerings and expand market reach.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, and sales, to leverage partnerships and drive business growth.
Project Management
  • Work and coordinate with relevant ops and tech owners of the projects to effectively deliver project deliverables in accordance with accepted proposals, relevant work plans and budget
  • Do horizon scanning to map out the relevant grants available for application to support the projects
  • Perform secretariat role for bi-lateral meetings (Working Committee, Steering Committee) between external parties (IHLs, research entities) and SMRT
  • Promote synergies in technology development efforts across the SMRT Business Units, ranging from enhancing operational/engineering capabilities to investing in new areas of growth or inventions, e.g., generating intellectual property to enhance the organisation\'s competitive edge.
  • Work with project teams to apply for patents for selected solutions/products, where applicable.
Qualifications & Work Experience
  • Post graduate or Degree in Engineering, Business or related fields.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in business development/project management.
Skills
  • Proactive and independent, deals well with ambiguity, and able to work successfully with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of commercial principles, market dynamics, and industry trends.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and develop creative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or relevant professional accreditation is a plus.
