Managing Director, Workplace Strategy. Workplace Studio | North America \xe2\x80\x93 New York Our Client, a leading, global commercial real estate services firm, is seeking a Managing Director, Workplace Strategy, to be located in the New York office, for its North American Workplace Studio. The role is to assist the Head of our clients Workplace Studio in leading, managing and growing the firm\xe2\x80\x99s workplace practice, specifically knowledgeable in the New York commercial market and across all industry sectors. The Company has offices in 30+ US cities and 600 locations globally. The culture is meritocratic, collegial, and highly entrepreneurial, within a framework of collaboration and sharing. As a senior leader in the group, the Managing Director, Workplace Strategy will source and execute workplace consulting projects, manage, and provide workplace resources for client teams, and participate in \xe2\x80\x9cpitch\xe2\x80\x9d meetings in order to strengthen the firm\xe2\x80\x99s business development efforts. The Managing Director, Workplace Strategy will help clients develop strategies and approaches to enable their employees to work more effectively, invest in their workspaces and work-from-anywhere technologies to improve talent attraction, retention, and productivity and further the client\xe2\x80\x99s business mission. The role will be to work with clients to understand their culture, technology, work methodology and business goals and then execute workplace observation, measurement studies, elicit data and other feedback from clients in order to make appropriate recommendations, and guide them to a decision. Additionally, this position will also involve management of roll-out/implementation planning and Change Management /Communication strategies. The position reports to the Head of the North American Workplace Studio. Specifically, the Managing Director, Workplace Strategy will:

  • Collaborate and align with senior NY broker leaders to pitch and secure business, adding research and insight on current workplace trends; assist with other market leaders in other regions as necessary to deliver commitments as required.
  • Pursue and secure client direct workplace engagements from occupiers of real estate, including corporations, partnerships, institutions, government agencies and non-profits while contributing to RFPs and participating in \xe2\x80\x9cpitch\xe2\x80\x9d meetings.
  • Contribute to leadership discussions regarding strategy, appropriate business development pursuits, training, and resourcing.
  • Execute workplace engagements, drawing on and managing other firm resources as necessary i.e., legal for agreements, creative services for presentation material, and PR for external opportunities to enhance our client\xe2\x80\x99s brand.
  • Leverage professional networks, including Core net, to identify new business opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with other Workplace Studio team members, both across North America and globally, to share best practices and amplify workplace service offerings and delivery.
  • Remain on the cutting edge of workplace issues by participating in continuing education opportunities in the field and writing/contributing to research around workplace thought leadership.
  • Identify and appropriate technology tools to enhance delivery of workplace services.
  • Source or develop and maintain relevant benchmarking studies.
  • Collaborate with our sister company Macro for coordinated project management and change to provide best in class service for our clients.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members, establishing career paths with the Head of the Workplace Studio

Qualified applicants will possess the following attributes, skills, experience, and education:
  • BS/BA degree
  • 10-15+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in occupier-focused Architecture, Design, Corporate Real Estate or Consulting, with an emphasis on Workplace and/or Real Estate Strategy in the New York market.
  • Ability to work in collaborative and open manner, and to inform, monitor and support the team\xe2\x80\x99s performance.
  • Subject matter expertise in aspects of Workplace Strategy, especially helpful in the legal, banking, and corporate sectors
  • At least 7 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience pursuing, closing, and delivering on new business engagements.
  • Ability to initiate, sustain and grow senior level client relationships.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, and negotiation skills to close contracts
  • Ability to work independently as well as manage teams.
  • Ability to travel to client locations; travel will likely be 20% with minimal overnights.
