Currently, we are looking for a Marketing Assistant. The role will report to our Senior Marketing Manager, Performance & Product Marketing and will be responsible for delivering acquisition marketing activities to new audiences across our owned platforms; i.e our website (economist.com) and apps within the Asia team. This is a temporary role for Maternity cover. The role will be working alongside key stakeholders in the global product marketing, performance marketing, and product and data teams, will be responsible for overall Performance in Asia.

Accountabilities

How you will contribute:

  • Support the Senior Marketing Managers and take ownership (where required) in the planning, executing and measurement of marketing campaigns across owned platforms and channels; i.e website, apps and organic search
  • Assist the Senior Marketing Manager in forecasting KPIs (site visitors, site registrations, newsletter sign ups, new subscriptions by campaign)
  • Help to ensure that all channels meet monthly KPI targets across all regions and provide performance analysis
  • Show a keen understanding of brand marketing and the importance of producing creative that is \xe2\x80\x9con brand\xe2\x80\x9d
  • Work with internal creative teams to produce innovative, best-in-class content and offer-led creative
  • Run A/B tests across our platforms (website, apps) to optimise user journeys and creative effectiveness with the ultimate goal to improve conversion rates
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across editorial, product, engineering and data to ensure the success of our marketing initiatives
  • Be an active participant in brainstorming sessions within the team
Main responsibilities:
  • Ensure campaigns are implemented on time, to budget and under quality controls
  • Brief and liaise with our media and internal and external creative agencies
  • Implement audience insights from internal research
  • Present creative concepts to internal stakeholders (design and marketing)
  • Brief and ensure the correct creative, landing pages, UTM coding, prices and offers are used
  • Monitor, analyse and optimise the weekly performance, recommending/alerting action where needed
  • Outline to the media agency weekly tasks and priorities
  • Perform regular health checks (eg. URL redirections, ad copies, internal reporting via FCX and other platforms)
  • Attend weekly status and reporting meetings and contribute your insights
  • Proactively seek out new marketing opportunities including:
  • Media selections, marketing and technology trends, audience segments and methodologies that can be tested and developed globally, competitive trends
  • Work closely with the Data and Insights team to create new reports that provide in-depth analysis
  • Ensure campaign costs are accurately allocated in finance trackers and that the finance reports are updated each month.
Experience, skills and professional attributes

The ideal candidate for this role will be/have:
  • Strong understanding of a \xe2\x80\x98funnel-based\xe2\x80\x99 approach to marketing
  • Experience in multi-region and/or multi-channel campaign planning
  • Excellent reporting and analysis skills at the campaign level
  • Familiarity with applying a test-and-learn approach to marketing campaigns
  • Some experience planning and executing both content-led and offer-led marketing campaigns
  • Agency management skills (from briefing to day-to-day liaison)
  • Experience within both brand marketing and a direct response marketing environment
  • Keen interest in current affairs and keeping up to date with global news
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity and the ability to perform effectively in an international environment
  • Highly fluent in written and spoken English and potentially one other language
  • A team player who is flexible and committed to reaching team goals and targets
  • Good communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Proactive and have the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
  • And more importantly, have fun at work
Desirable tech competencies
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Suite (Docs, Slides etc.)
  • Experience with analytics, tracking and attribution technologies (GA, Google Data Studio)
  • Fundamental knowledge of:

  • Marketing Terms
