GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Markets Business Manager is member of the Strategy & Business Operations Singapore team and shall endeavour to fulfil the ambitions defined and outlined for the team by Head of Strategy & Business Operations Singapore. He/she shall ensure active risk management and meet all regulatory and internal compliance expectations relating to the role.

The role requires the end-to-end management/implementation of local, regional, global and strategic initiatives with a holistic view to ensure all relevant Asia aspects are considered. He/she shall be involved in the business management function of Markets & Wealth Management Solutions APAC. Further, he/she shall review, recommend and drive any necessary changes in workflow, control measures and operational processes to improve the efficiency, quality and competitiveness of Markets & Wealth Management Solutions APAC. The incumbent shall also build highly effective relationships across the Bank to maintain and improve knowledge of the business and its latest products and services to optimise service to clients.

The Markets Business Manager reports to Head of Strategy & Business Operations Singapore.

People Management

• Contribute to the strengthening of the team spirit and the fostering of a collaborative work environment
• Motivate and provide guidance/feedback to other team members to improve overall performance

Client Management (internal & external)

• Ability to lead end-to-end management/implementation of local, regional, global and strategic initiatives and contribute to all stages of projects (i.e. coordination, analysis & requirements gathering, business process, UAT, rollout & support), ensuring all relevant Asia aspects are considered
• Support and coordinate the launch of new products/services and perform post implementation reviews
• Play an active role in defining the business strategy as well as the planning and implementation of the key initiatives of Markets & Wealth Management Solutions APAC
• Work closely with internal stakeholders (which includes Business Owners, Product Managers, Product Owners and Support Functions) to analyse, identify and develop new solutions to optimise/automate work processes
• Provide regular and accurate project status reports and institute progress meetings to keep stakeholders informed

Business Management

• Work to fulfil the ambitions of the team defined by Head of Strategy & Business Operations Singapore
• Perform business management function of Markets & Wealth Management Solutions (e.g. Internal charging and revenues reporting for Markets\xe2\x80\x99 Services such as Direct Access Clients and Night Desk, ad-hoc reporting)
• Develop, deploy and maintain governance on processes and applications (i.e. user manuals, procedural guidelines, policies, etc.)
• Perform regular policy and process review and enhancement for Markets & Wealth Management Solutions APAC to ensure effective risk management and operational scalability
• Provide inputs/updates for the various management committees where relevant

Compliance & Risk Management

• Meet all legal, regulatory and compliance standards/requirements
• Regular assessment of the function\xe2\x80\x99s practices to mitigate associated risks arising out of and relating to the said function
• Demonstration of appropriate values and behaviours including but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

Personal and Social

• Keen eye for details, fast learner and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines

Professional and Technical

• Relevant higher educational and professional background with 10+ years of relevant working experience
• Represent the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s and shareholders\xe2\x80\x99 interests at all times
• Ability to provide advisory to the business
• Strong commercial judgement, business acumen and broad understanding of the financial market and products \xe2\x80\x93 good understanding of Markets\xe2\x80\x99 (i.e. Sales, Execution, Trading and Middle Office) functions/processes is a plus
• Demonstrate strong capability for problem solving, decision making, sound judgement assertiveness
• Experience in Agile methodology and partnering with IT in scrum model
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel VBA macros, Microsoft Access and Tableau is preferred
• Affinity in emerging technology with experience in digital assets is a plus

Regulatory

• Familiar with regulatory expectations and requirements (e.g. HKMA and MAS)
