What a Material Supply Planning Specialist does at HP:
Lead the analysis of a specific commodity data and industry trends or leads an individual supply chain sub- category; reports results to managers.
Participate as a senior member on a cross-functional team (may lead specific projects).
Meet with Stakeholder managers to understand business priorities and translate them into procurement plans; comprehends the industry and the Marketplace.
Utilize supply chain and financial modeling tools.
Participate and lead Supplier Selection Activities.
Lead activities for complex domains.
Assess the supply base of category.
Negotiate and contract with suppliers.
Engage with low-complexity suppliers.
Monitor supplier performance.
Proactive in identifying potential risk, able to execute and drive risk mitigation, business continuity, cost management, and operation strategies independently.
Identify common contract risk areas.
Advise program level business representatives on fundamental contract risk areas.
Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:
First level university degree or equivalent experience; advanced university degree preferred.
Typically more than 6 years of relevant experience in procurement or supply chain function.
Excellent understanding of global procurement processes, industry, and complex suppliers.
Excellent analytical skills.
Excellent business application skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint) and supply chain modeling skills.
Strong knowledge, use and influence of procurement tools and applications.
Excellent communication skills, including presentation and negotiation abilities.
Good Project Management Skills.
Excellent team leadership and influencing skills.
Mastery in English and local language.
Ability to create a contract from standard HP or customized contract templates with limited supervision.
Applies cause and effect thinking to identify challenging contact risk areas.
Capable of drafting contract solutions in known contract risk areas to obtain acceptable outcomes with limited supervision.
Good understanding of contracting principles.
Ability to close complex deals in a timely fashion.
Strong ability to develop suppliers strategically.
