Job Description


The Role: As a Middle School Math Learning Support Specialist, you are passionate about finding ways to support students to ensure that every student\xe2\x80\x99s numeracy skills are growing and progressing. You are a skilled mathematics educator who employs evidence-based high impact instructional strategies. You are a team-player who will collaborate with other teachers in the planning and instruction of engaging, inclusive math experiences. You are also adept at using use data to monitor the progress of both behavioural and academic supports for students. Your key responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with mathematics lead teachers:
  • Develop cohesive curriculum materials and the establishment of instructional goals
  • Provide a classroom environment that is conducive to learning
  • Effectively teach the curriculum
  • Effectively manage each group of students while providing for a variety of learning needs, ability levels, and educational backgrounds
  • Provide accommodations to meet each student\xe2\x80\x99s learning needs.
  • Maintain rigorous and appropriate learning expectations of all students at all times
  • Supporting individual students:
  • Accurately and regularly assess student progress
  • Continuously monitor student learning and make appropriate modifications of goals and strategies to meet students\xe2\x80\x99 needs
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of student progress and attendance
  • Supporting groups of students:
  • Collaborate with other academic staff in using of data to determine high-impact small group interventions.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of small group intervention and extension courses.
Other Duties:
  • Co-teach one of the middle school homeroom classes
  • Keep current in education through coursework, in-service programs, and by attending professional meetings
  • Engage with students in meaningful activities beyond the classroom which extend learning experiences for students (ECAs, organising learning journeys, attending middle school camp, etc.)
  • Engage parents and students in the learning process through frequent and meaningful communication about student progress.
  • Liaise with other health professionals, other teachers and administrative staff as required
  • Maintain student confidentiality
  • Work cooperatively and effectively within the team and with student, teachers and other stakeholders
  • Suggest, lead and participate in service development and improvement activities within the team
  • Join and contribute to Committees to ensure a progressive and inclusive School community
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the Head of School, Principal, and CEO
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in an International or Accredited School setting.
  • Candidate who has experience working with children who learn differently, will be a plus point for this role.
  • The candidate must hold at least a tertiary education degree in teaching or equivalent.
  • Committed and passionate in inclusive education.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified true copies of qualifications, transcripts and translations must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of duties.
  • General knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and 21st Century Classroom Technologies is required.
  • Exceptional knowledge in the use of assistive and appropriate technology to support instruction.
  • Demonstrates exceptional skill in the roles of a teacher as well as a leader.
