Mizuho Bank is seeking an experienced compliance professional to join a newly formed team to manage compliance risk for the Asia-Pacific region. The APAC Compliance Head of Policy, Training & Reporting will be responsible for the design, development, delivery and execution of best in class compliance policies and procedures, compliance training programme and compliance reporting process, and more specifically, to:\xe2\x80\xa2facilitate a consistent review of head office policies and requirements against in-country laws and requirements and manage deviations

  • drive consistent compliance training needs analysis and delivery across APAC (including identifying and addressing gaps in existing and required skills of the compliance team)
  • design and put in place an appropriate reporting process to support board and management in their oversight of compliance risk
Key responsibilities
  • Oversee and provide strategic direction for the design, development, delivery and execution of best in class compliance policies, training and reporting including compliance risk appetite, metrics and escalation
  • Oversee gap analysis between head office policies and requirements and in-country laws and requirements, and ensuring gaps are addressed
  • Drive regional consistency and minimum standards
  • Oversee identification, assessment and management of key compliance risks
  • Build strong and effective relationships with stakeholders
  • Provide direction, leadership and guidance to country compliance teams
  • Attract, develop and retain compliance talent
Job Requirements
Knowledge, skills and experience
  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent
  • At least 15 years\' experience in compliance, legal or other controls related function in the financial services industry
  • Extensive knowledge and strong expertise in the design and implementation of compliance programmes
  • Strong understanding of banking products, services and processes
  • Strong technical compliance expertise and a solid understanding of corporate governance
  • Highly motivated leader and team player
  • Strong analytical, communication and people skills, ability to lead, influence and collaborate with people across different cultures and backgrounds
  • Adaptable, resilient and passionate about making a difference
  • Subject matter expert, experience dealing with complex issues, forward-looking, solutions-oriented, ability to be hands-on
