Position Summary

You'll lead the mechanical design and development of automated manufacturing equipment--from initial proof-of-concept through detailed design, validation, and commissioning. This role is for someone pragmatic and hands-on, with a passion for automating precision manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

Design mechanical systems for automated production equipment, including frames, motion axes, fixtures, and gantry or robotic integrations. Produce 3D CAD models and detailed drawings (SolidWorks or Unigraphics), adhering to design-for-manufacturability and precision engineering principles. Collaborate with electrical, controls, and software teams to integrate sensors, and control systems. Select and qualify components, interface with suppliers for custom parts, and support procurement. Oversee build, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting with project teams. Contribute to standardization of mechanical design processes, documentation, and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related. 3-8 years' experience in mechanical design for automated equipment, custom machinery, or manufacturing systems--especially for OEMs. Proficient in 3D CAD workflows. Solid knowledge of mechanical motion systems (linear, rotational), pneumatics, material handling, kinematics. Practical, problem-solving mindset and readiness for field involvement. Strong cross-disciplinary communication skills. Exposure to precision engineering, ETO manufacturing, or test & tooling equipment preferred.
