Job Description

Key Responsibilities



Reliability Engineering & Continuous Improvement



Implement equipment reliability strategies, including RCFA, RCM, and FMEA. Identify and address recurring failures; recommend design modifications, material upgrades, and operational changes to enhance uptime. Lead "bad actor" analysis and define long-term corrective actions with measurable outcomes (e.g., MTBF/MTTR improvements). Track, analyze, and report key reliability metrics to support KPI performance for the Maintenance & Engineering Manager.

Safety, Audit & Compliance



Ensure full compliance with HSE policies and procedures in all daily operations. Actively participate in safety programs, including PTW, LOTOTO, JHA, incident investigations, inspections, and emergency drills. Support internal and external audits (MOM, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, SS651). Drive risk mitigation through hazard identification, near-miss reporting, and timely closure of corrective actions.

SOP Development & Documentation



Develop, review, and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and maintenance checklists for mechanical and utility systems. Ensure all SOPs reflect best practices, regulatory compliance, and lessons learned from RCAs and incidents. Provide technical training and guidance to technicians to ensure effective SOP execution.

Team Supervision & Task Management



Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of mechanical technicians and in-house contractors to ensure timely and safe execution of maintenance tasks. Assign and monitor jobs using CMMS and job sheets, ensuring proper resource allocation and schedule adherence. Mentor technicians on troubleshooting, safety, and best maintenance practices. Monitor contractor performance and enforce compliance with safety standards. Lead toolbox meetings and manage manpower planning, particularly during shutdowns and emergency works.

General Responsibilities



Participate in shutdown planning and execution, ensuring timely and quality completion of all mechanical works. Lead or support small- to medium-scale capital projects, including scope development, budgeting, vendor management, installation, and commissioning. Collaborate with operations, E&I engineers, and vendors to align maintenance strategies with production requirements. Contribute to HSE initiatives, including audits, incident investigations, and LOTOTO programs.

Job Requirements



Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Minimum 5 years' maintenance experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, or process manufacturing environments. Proven expertise in handling rotating/static equipment, piping systems, and mechanical utilities. Hands-on experience with CMMS (e.g., SAP, MVP) and maintenance planning. Strong background in equipment and instrument reliability studies, preventive maintenance programs, and long-term improvement initiatives. Knowledge of statutory regulations, including SS651, WSH Act, and MOM inspection protocols. Familiarity with predictive maintenance techniques and reliability engineering principles. Demonstrated ability in SOP development, technical documentation, and process compliance. Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, SS651, cGMP, clean design, and microbial control practices. HSE and Quality-minded attitude with proven commitment to compliance and safety. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
