Job Description

Imperium Commodity Search is working with a growing metals trading house based in Singapore, seeking to recruit a metals trader on an agency/consultant agreement to utilise their increased credit lines and new offtake agreements. The firm would ideally be looking for traders managing flow from South Africa to Asia across base metal/non-ferrous or iron ore metal products (chrome, manganese, iron ore, nickel, zinc, aluminium etc.) with the need for operational and financing support to increase volumes/PnL and take a substantial revenue split/cut on profits.
Responsibilities:

• Self manage back to back trading across base/non-ferrous or iron ore metal products
• Actively seek out high margin metal trades in the Asian/African and Middle East markets
• Maintain relationships with suppliers, mines and distributors of metals (iron ore, base metals, chrome, manganese etc.) on the African continent
• Build a sales network across metals in Asia or target geographies to drive back to back metal trading flow
• Keep up to date on market analysis and movements to capitalise on trading opportunity
• Liaise with internal operations and financing teams to ensure smooth and timely physical trades
• Assist the business in growing into new territories and products

Experience:

• Proven track record in profitable metals trading (in iron ore, manganese, chrome, base metals, non-ferrous etc.)
• Comfortable with an agency/consulting agreement and the related salary/compensation structure
• Excellent knowledge of the operational and risk aspects of physical metal trading
• Independent and sales driven
• Fluent in written/spoken English, additional languages beneficial
• Ability to travel regularly to meet with suppliers and customers
• Experience in sourcing from Africa and selling to Asia beneficial
