Job Description


  • Assess and underwrite Motor retail and scheme business profitably within delegated Underwriting authority
  • Review existing accounts periodically; monitor and analyse producers performance to ensure business growth and profitability.
  • Propose new processes to improve efficiency or security of underwriting
  • Ensure required reports and submissions are done within timelines
  • Work closely with Claims, Finance, Customer Service departments to facilitate optimal support to producers
  • Foster strong business relationships with external and internal business partners.
  • Ensure compliance with the companys requirements and all other relevant statutory regulations and guidelines
Job Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree / Diploma / Professional Insurance qualification
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in the motor insurance industry as an underwriter and/or a Broker.
  • Familiar with local market mechanisms and practices, and has well-established relationships with Motor dealers and producers.
  • Sound underwriting technical knowledge in Motor insurance coupled with good business sense
  • Good numerical and analytical skills to identify trends and propose solutions.
  • Possess Certificate of General Insurance (CGI) - Full certification.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Highly accountable and results oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment making quick decisions while maintaining strong underwriting discipline.
