The Netball Instructor is responsible for designing, conducting, and evaluating a structured and developmentally appropriate Netball training programme that caters to students' varying levels of ability. The instructor will work closely with the teacher-in-charge to develop students' skills, fitness, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship, while instilling school values and promoting holistic development through sport.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Programme Planning & Delivery
Design and deliver a structured Netball training programme tailored for the school's CCA calendar (weekly, termly, and yearly plans).
Ensure sessions cater to both beginner and advanced players, promoting progressive skill development.
Incorporate warm-up, skill drills, tactical play, and competitive match practices in line with age and ability levels.
Align training objectives with MOE's CCA Framework and 21st Century Competencies (21CC).
Competition & Performance Preparation
Prepare students for school, zonal, and national-level competitions such as the
National School Games (NSG)
.
Develop match strategies, team formations, and positional play.
Conduct friendly matches and internal assessments to monitor progress.
Values & Character Development
Instil sportsmanship, teamwork, resilience, discipline, and integrity throughout training sessions.
Reinforce school values and social-emotional competencies through guided reflection and team discussions.
Safety & Administration
Ensure students' safety by adhering to MOE's and the school's safety guidelines.
Maintain attendance records, training plans, and evaluation reports for submission to the teacher-in-charge.
Conduct regular briefings and feedback sessions with the teacher-in-charge regarding students' progress.
Talent Identification & Mentorship
Assist in talent selection during CCA recruitment or trials.
Provide mentorship and leadership development opportunities for team captains and student leaders.
Prior coaching experience in school or club settings (Primary, Secondary, or JC level).
Familiarity with Netball Singapore's competition formats and rules.
Skills & Competencies
Strong technical and tactical understanding of netball.
Ability to design engaging, age-appropriate training sessions.
Effective communication and classroom management skills.
Empathetic, patient, and able to motivate students.
