Job Description

Purpose of the role:

The Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training where required.

Job role and responsibilities:

Scope:

• The Network Engineer will work closely with the NCI Operation and project & service delivery area on the DDC (Colombia and Philippines)
• The services will be provided to worldwide Inchcape markets.
• Will support and apply the strategic infrastructure plan, according to the Enterprise strategy designed by the global IT architect.
• Active participation on the projects, designing the technical solution and oversee the deployment process to align the implementation with the architecture proposed.

Strategy & Planning

• Collaborate with operation teams and department leaders to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs.
• Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
• Implement, and maintain policies, procedures for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
• Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation.
• Acquire and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organization’s network.

Operational Management:

• Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
• Ensure network connectivity of all technological assets.
• Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
• Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
• Participate in managing all network security solutions.
• Deploy and administrate company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.
• Deploy new equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
• Interact with vendors to secure network products and services
• Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, UPSs, and so on.
• users regarding pertinent network activities.
• Administer user accounts, permissions, and access rights.

Formal Education & Certification:

• Four-year university degree in the field of network or telecommunication science and/or 4 years equivalent work experience.
• Certifications in Cisco, CCNA, CCNP or any network related certification.

Skills and experience required:

Knowledge and Experience

• 3 years’ experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.
• Exceptional technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as servers, routers, bridges, switches, hubs, modems, network interface cards, and so on.
• Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards, including IPv4, IPv6, TCP, UDP, GRE, OSPF, BGP,EIGRP, etc.
• Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, micro segmentation and telecommunications principles.
• Experience installing network cabling and patching telephony systems and VoIP services
• Knowledge of MPLS, SDN & SDWAN are required (Mandatory).

Technology:

• Strong system administration (Routers, Switch, AP, SDWAN, etc.) at the command-line level.
• Enterprise data center infrastructure (networking, security, DR)
• Knowledge of Cloud networking (Azure desirable)
• Knowledge about Cloud Network security architecture
• Experiences in consolidation of datacenters and hybrid environments.
• Knowledge on several brands of networking (Cisco, Extreme Networks, Dell, Aruba, Arista, HP, Silver Peak, Meraki, etc.)

Work Conditions

• Monday – Friday, office hours, and some standby shifts.
• Some afterhours work will be required to join online meetings with global team members.
• Possibility to adjust to shift-times within business hours to cover a follow the sun service with Colombia.
