Purpose of the Role
The IP Engineering Support - Group Manager role is accountable for the Core and Edge Engineering design, testing, delivery and Tier3 operations of the TE-I IP infrastructure.
Furthermore, this role is also responsible to deliver SD-WAN engineering support in collaboration with International and domestic stakeholders as well as external suppliers.
This role plays a critical role in delivering TE-I revenues through internal and supplier management, Engineering key network strategies and technologies, delivering new network efficiencies through implementation of network upgrades, technology transformation.
It is customer-focussed, supporting GID, IPT, IPVPN, L2VPN, EPLX, and GMNS for Wholesale and Enterprise customers, accountable for maintenance activity and restoration in major network events.
Context of the Role
This role is a key interface for network modernization, network security and network automation in TE-I IP Platform.
You play a critical role in building and leading high performing teams ensuring the Telstra network delivers a superior network experience for our consumer and business customers.
You do this by combining your extensive telecommunications network expertise with your strong people skills to lead and develop your team so they can deliver a great customer experience.
Responsibilities of the Role As a Network Engineering and Planning Senior Lead, you use your leadership and broad experience and deep expertise in multiple areas of network engineering to deliver against these responsibilities:
Identifying and managing planning, resourcing and budget requirements over multi quarter/OKR time horizons, so your team can successfully deliver network technology projects within the domain
Use your strong inter-personal skills to create an empowering shared team purpose/vision and clear goals that enable your team to deliver agreed project outcomes that build a great customer experience.
Continuously develop your knowledge in current and emerging network technologies, platforms, and/or systems so you can contribute to continuous capability and practice improvement initiatives within your domain
Providing guidance, coaching and feedback to less experienced team members, and managing the full performance cycle.
Providing input and support in collaborative problem solving, particularly issues requiring a holistic view of multiple inter-connected components, systems and/or platforms to overcome new and complex process or technology constraints.
Making a strong contribution to the achievement of your areas strategic objectives, by managing capacity and deployment of network infrastructure to meet product growth, whilst promoting production unit cost reduction opportunities (e.g. through simplification, continuous improvement and the smart application of new technology)
Contributing to technology investment and business asset recommendations based on knowledge of new and emerging technologies, and strong technology vendor relationships. This includes developing product infrastructure and technology roadmaps leveraging opportunities from evolving and future technologies.
What we\'re looking for
To be successful in the role, you need to have:
8+ years of experience in Global IP network engineering and/or operations with in-depth knowledge of IP routing and switching
Experience working with a high degree of familiarity with Engineering NW designs, Architecture and appropriate transport platform experience
Ability to remain calm under pressure when faced with adversity or urgent issues
Able to show excellent leadership skills and be a problem solver, strong time management to delivery of projects on time and within budget
Initiative, drive and the ability to work and demonstrate leadership in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team environment
Ability to drive consensus among peers and stakeholders
Excellent analytical and writing skills, with an attention to details
Highly desirable:
Skills in SD-WAN, Enterprise Networking (WAN), SW Orchestration / Automation or Virtualization of network functions.
Bachelor\'s degree in science, technology, engineering, or math is desirable
Completion of the COE program or similar business practical focused certification/award on operational management, especially in understanding and mapping value tree and process workflows
