We are looking for a dynamic member to join us as Officer, Community Engagement and Placemaking.
Essential Job Functions
The incumbent is responsible for planning and implementing initiatives towards realising the Science Centre Board\'s (SCB) place vision and placemaking aspirations for Science Centre Singapore (SCS). These include making SCS a centre for all ages in the promotion of STEM; a community living room, neighbourhood hub and gateway to Jurong Lake District; and an exemplar of placemaking with the community.
You must demonstrate a strong interest and initiative in understanding and growing SCS\'s role within Jurong Lake District as a leader in community. This includes collaborating with other departments within SCB, and partners in and beyond Jurong Lake District to activate and programme the public spaces within and around SCS to draw people, encourage social connections, and facilitate community bonding and empowerment through collective and participatory creation.
Beyond implementing initiatives for vibrant and lively community spaces within SCS, you shall consider how the placemaking strategy will leverage SCS\'s place assets to advance and achieve multiple outcomes across the different areas of work such as growing our youth and volunteer engagement and enhancing our science communication capabilities to effectively promote the value of STEM education.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have a tertiary qualification in social sciences, urban studies, architecture and planning, engineering, environmental or industrial design, communication or equivalent will also be considered.
He/She should have at least 2 years of experience in designing and managing public space programming and events, including budget planning and management.
Familiarity with applying for and securing government grants and the Jurong Lake District and the West region is an advantage.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in designing and conducting engagement with local businesses, grassroots communities, government agencies and service providers.
