What the role is:The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, safeguards the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes and works closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare. It is the main touch-point on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the first responder for all animal-related feedback. It also conducts public education and engagement programmes to foster a humane and gracious society for all, where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in greater harmony within our City in Nature.You will be part of the Quarantine & Biosecurity Services (QBS) team under the Veterinary Health Division (VHD) of AVS, which is responsible for operating border control points for animal biosecurity as well as overseeing and managing all animal quarantine stations in Singapore. You will be stationed at the Animal Quarantine Centre (AQC), which provides quarantine facilities and services for imported dogs and cats. Your role will help safeguard animal health and welfare and public health by keeping exotic diseases such as rabies out of Singapore, during the implementation of the newly revised veterinary import conditions following comprehensive risk assessment and review.What you will be working on:You will be involved in the following duties:Address queries from customers on the import and quarantine of dogs/catsAssist to process applications for quarantine reservationsAssist to manage the daily care of quarantined dogs and cats and upkeep of the kennels and catteries (e.g. feeding, walking of dogs, carrying out checks on animals)Assist to monitor home-quarantined animals virtually and to contact their owners via phone and video callsAssist with administrative processes and other duties related to the operations of the branch (e.g. updating records, discharge of animals, issuance of certificates)What we are looking for:Diploma in Life Science, Veterinary Technology, Veterinary Bioscience, or any other relevant disciplineComfortable with handling dogs and catsCandidates with relevant working experience involving animals will be advantageousPossess professional communication skills including customer service, and able to work in a fast-paced environmentHighly self-motivated team player, energetic with positive personalityProficient in MS Office and willing to learn new system applicationsWilling to work on weekends and public holidays based on rosterOffice Location:The office location will be at Animal Quarantine Centre, 2 Jalan Lekar, Singapore 698919Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
