Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

Database Administration:

Installation, configuration, patching, upgrading, and migration of Oracle databases.

Performance Tuning:

Monitoring and optimizing database performance, including SQL tuning, instance tuning, and operating system level adjustments.

Backup and Recovery:

Implementing and managing backup and recovery strategies (RMAN, Data Pump, etc.) to ensure data availability and disaster recovery capabilities.

High Availability:

Implementing and maintaining high-availability solutions such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Data Guard, and GoldenGate.

Security Management:

Managing database security, user accounts, roles, privileges, and implementing security best practices.

Capacity Planning:

Monitoring and planning for database growth, storage, and resource utilization.

Troubleshooting:

Diagnosing and resolving database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, errors, and connectivity problems.

Documentation:

Maintaining comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
Specific Requirements:

STRONG Shell scripting knowledge (Handson Experience is must) - around 3 years:

Developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting shell scripts (Bash, KornShell, etc.) for automating routine DBA tasks, monitoring, reporting, and system administration.

Experience with scripting for database backups, log management, performance metric collection, and task scheduling.


Proficiency in using command-line tools and utilities within a Unix/Linux environment.

Must support weekend when needed and can take comp off immediately in the following weekdays:

Availability for on-call support during weekends and outside of regular business hours to address critical database issues.

Flexibility to receive compensatory time off during the subsequent weekdays for weekend support provided.

General Qualifications:


Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture and concepts. Experience with various Oracle versions and features. Familiarity with operating systems like Linux/Unix and Windows. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
