Responsibilities:



+ Teach Mandarin as a foreign language (11 - 16 year olds) + Teach Mandarin as a mother tongue (11 - 16 year olds)
+ Manage classroom behaviour to optimize student learning
+ Facilitate learning amongst a wide range of learners using an inquiry-based approach
+ Assess, record and report on student learning and progress through regular assessments
+ Contribute to the development of the academic and pastoral curricula
+ Attend meetings, complete supervision duties, participate in professional development
+ Contribute to student life at GESS and be an active member of the school community

Requirements:



+ Tertiary educational background in the discipline of Mandarin language studies + Recognised teaching qualification (minimum B.Ed or PGCE equivalent)
+ At least 2 years of experience of secondary school classroom teaching
+ Knowledge, understanding and teaching experience of the IB's Middle Years Programme highly desirable
+ Articulate and effective written and oral communication in English and Mandarin
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
+ Experience of working in an international school setting advantageous
+ Willingness to adapt to and embrace a new school environment
