Job Description

The School of Creative Industries resides in the Faculty of Fine Arts, Media & Creative Industries. The programmes in the School aim to educate and nurture the next generation of professionals, researchers and leaders in art therapy, arts management, arts pedagogy and practice, and creative writing. The arts and creative sectors need a broad spectrum of talents for their development and the School endeavours to fill this need by preparing our graduates to shape the futures of their varied disciplines. The School is active in community engagement, research and collaborations within the broader arts and creative sector, nationally and internationally.

The BA(Hons) Arts Management programme is seeking a Part-time Lecturer in Digital Cultures to plan and deliver teaching in the assigned modules, specifically in digital cultures, digital creative industries, digital communications, digital creativity.

The primary responsibilities of a Part-time Lecturer are to plan, teach and assess within the existing curriculum of the assigned programme and provide student-learning support. Part-time Lecturers are usually engaged on a semester basis and paid on an hourly-rated basis. The rate of pay will depend on the qualifications and experience.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in arts/cultural management from an established university. PhD candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an established university with at least 5 years or equivalent experience in working within the arts management field locally and/or internationally focusing on digital preservation, digital creation/production/ exhibitions, digital promotion, new media communications and/or online engagements.
  • Academic knowledge in digital arts and cultures, digital creative industries and economics, digital audiences and digital communications, digital and data ethics.
  • Strong knowledge and experiential understanding of current and emerging trends in creative/digital industries, specifically in creative content production including but not limited to VR, AR, mixed realities and digital and hybrid realities apps, gaming, digital storytelling and data visualisation.
  • Technical proficiency in digital/creative content management, including design, digital production, preservation, exhibition or promotion. Basic graphic/web design and/or video editing skills are desirable.
  • Excellent social media management skills with some experience in delivering online campaigns generating active audience feedback.
  • Teaching experience in higher education or at least experience in public speaking, conducting master classes or tutorials, mentoring young colleagues or participation in educational and professional events.
  • Ability to engage students through a range of delivery modes.
  • Ability to work well as a member of a team and collaborate with colleagues at all levels.
  • Teacher training qualifications is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, design, teaching and learning methodologies and assessment of learning outcomes would be an advantage.
  • Pastoral care skills relating to issues concerning students would be an advantage.
