There is an exciting opportunity to join the Payments Business Controls Management Team as a Controls Manager covering Liquidity, Account Services & Escrow solutions as well as responsible for overall Governance.

The Payments Controls team is responsible for setting standards and providing the tools and infrastructure that ensures the Payments business has a seamless front to back control environment deployed in mitigation of the Business\' inherent operating risks. Our teams are constantly innovating, using the latest technology and data analytics to deliver specialized solutions to help clients grow and streamline their businesses.

The ideal candidate will bring a diverse perspective to the role. The team is looking at the Controls function with a fresh set of eyes and a goal toward talent that have experience and/or aptitude including, but not limited to Risk and Controls. New ideas and ways of approaching a problem are highly valued. Specific attributes include strong process orientation/project management skills, critical thinking, problem solving, strategic mind-set and excellent writing/ presentation skills. The candidate must be able to liaise with all levels of management and work independently.

Key responsibilities of this position include, amongst others, those listed below consisting of both variable project related activities with finite completion dates as well as fixed day to day BAU activities.

Job responsibilities

  • Manage control-related activities, including risk event data occurrences and provide control related due diligence to business units to foster a proactive risk and control culture that leverages proven evaluation strategies and sound change management protocols
  • Provide guidance to business to ensure all initiatives go through proper New Business and Change Management processes and provide controls requirements for any incremental risks for these initiatives
  • Partner effectively with colleagues across the firm, business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, regulators and technology control functions to ensure consistent and rigorous operational risk practices and Control programs including: Proactive theme-based reviews, identification and mitigation of risks and control design & performance evaluation
  • Working with business partners to ensure adequate oversight and governance around Partnership arrangements and 3rd Party Vendors
  • Help establish control governance and reporting to identify meaningful metrics to inform on health of operational risk and control environment; escalate control deficiencies based on key reporting indicators; and manage control committees and forums.
  • Lead and partner with the business, legal, risk, compliance and other control partners on various issues ranging from self-identified issues to global regulatory enforcement actions
  • Partner with the business and other control partners across multiple time zones in an effort to create consistency in the control environment and underlying processes globally while supporting discussions with regulators, audit teams, compliance and risk ranging from one-off meetings to more formal presentations in Business Control Committees
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Economics or a related discipline. MBA is a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years\' experience in Banking & Financial Services. Experience in Payments, Risk, Compliance Auditing, Internal Control preferred
  • Product experience covering Payments, Receivables. Liquidity, Trade preferred
  • A strong team player and problem solver with proven ability to evaluate processes, controls and issues to determine the inherent risks
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written), with high degree of comfort communicating with senior management, internal and external audit as well as peer groups
  • Ability to think flexibly and learn rapidly, work in a evolving environment, manage multiple projects at once and prioritize effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound and balanced judgment; keen attention to detail
