Position:

• Research Associate/PhD Candidate (Vertical Farming/Indoor Crop Production) or
• Research Technician (Vertical Farming/Indoor Crop Production)

Key Job Purpose: You will be working in the team of Proteins4Singapore, a comprehensive research programme with renowned scientists of plant and food technology, food chemistry, and business sustainability. Interdisciplinary teams will generate state-of-the-art methods and techniques to ensure a sustainable protein supply in highly urbanized environments. One of the major goals of this subproject is the comprehensive scientific evaluation of a soybean pilot vertical farm in Singapore. That includes planning, carrying out, monitoring and analysing soybean crop growth experiments to maximize grain protein yield per unit area and year under fully controlled growing conditions.
Key Responsibilities:

• Optimise soybean growth conditions in a controlled environment agriculture (CEA) systems
• Monitor plants growth and abiotic stress responses
• Closely monitor yield traits
• Carry out an array of regular plant measurements throughout plant growth and regularly analyse and discuss the results
• Operate and maintain sensors and technical devices in experiments

Job Requirements/Competencies:

• At least a Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Plant sciences, Plant agriculture or a related field
• You are a Vertical farming specialist and/or a Soybean specialist
• At least 3 years of practical expertise
• Experience with hydroponics systems is a must
• Preferably, broad experience on plant nutrition (fertiliser mixing and management)
• Plant physiology \xe2\x80\x93 Preferably on soybean
• Phenotyping techniques
• Plant immunity
• Crop management
• Fertilizer chemistry
• Data analysis \xe2\x80\x93 R or Phyton
• Scientific writing
• Experience on commercial vertical farming

:

• Monitor, take measurements, collect & document data.
• Prepare, seed, maintain and harvest the indoor farming trials.
• Maintain experiments and equipment.
• Prepare data and perform analysis.
• Conduct experiments under the supervision of senior scientists and work together with project partners in parallel research projects.
