Job Description


Overview:As a Senior Trader, you will play a critical role in maximizing shareholder value by generating new business opportunities and enhancing the value of products exported by our refinery. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for maintaining our market position through a thorough understanding of market structure, pricing benchmarks, and market trends.The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in oil trading, with a strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of supply and demand dynamics in the oil market.Key Responsibilities:

  • Maximize shareholder value by generating new business opportunities and enhancing the value of products exported by the refinery.
  • Maintain market position by understanding and properly evaluating market structure and pricing benchmarks.
  • Track and participate in tenders and opportunity cargoes to capitalize on market opportunities.
  • Enter into sales agreements with counterparties at the best possible prices, leveraging negotiation skills and market insights.
  • Scan the market for various available feedstocks and product streams to meet the requirements of the organization.
  • Engage and negotiate with counterparties to secure the best possible prices and terms for trading transactions.
  • Develop newer markets in Far East, Middle East, and Africa, expanding the customer database and meeting potential customers.
  • Ensure proper execution of commercial contracts and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including trading desks, risk managers, and operations teams, to execute trading strategies and manage trading activities effectively.
  • Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and competitive dynamics in the oil trading markets, incorporating insights into trading strategies and decision-making processes.
Educational Qualifications & Certifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, with a preference for a Postgraduate Degree/Diploma in Business Administration (MBA).
Relevant (Functional/Level) & Total Years of Experience:
  • Total Experience: 15-20 years
  • Relevant Experience: 10-15 years
Preferred Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in oil products/feedstock/crude oil trading, with a strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and understanding of oil market dynamics.
  • Proven track record of success in negotiating commercial contracts, analyzing market trends, and driving business growth in the oil trading sector.
