Wood has an opportunity for Piping Materials Engineer. There is an increased thrust to deliver our services for the growing Asian market. As a result of this, Piping Department operation is expanding and evolving to manage the challenges of regional projects that continue to pose challenges in offering our services through a global talent pool.

  • Report to the Piping Discipline Head / Assigned project lead piping engineer, the main functions of the role will be to interpret ClientaEUR(TM)s specifications and standards as well as preparing specifications for piping materials
  • Liaise with the Project Coordinating Engineer regarding the interpretation of Client's Specifications and Standards
  • Prepare specifications in accordance with Client's and / or Foster Wheeler's requirements for piping materials
  • Liaise with Project Engineers and Technology Group to establish the full range of piping material specifications required
  • Review and approve vendor quotations for Procurement and approve Order Variation Summaries
  • Manage vendor documents for bulk piping and special items
  • Coordinate with Technology Group for the review of welding and painting procedures that are submitted by vendors
  • Coordinate and liaise with Design and other Groups including Estimating, Procurement, Construction and Sub-Contracts
  • Attend meetings as necessary with Vendors and other Groups and advise on problems within the scope of assigned responsibility
  • Establish and maintain a filing system of project documents and carry out proper close out of all project related work
  • Provide leave cover and represent piping materials in the absence of Lead Piping Materials Engineer
Skills / Qualifications
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in Refinery / Petrochemical / Chemical / Power/ Pharmaceutical Plant Projects
  • Knowledge of Piping Material Specifications, International Design Codes & Standards
  • Highly motivated, well organized, resourceful and proactive
  • Possess good interpersonal skills with sound written and oral communication skills
  • Flexible approach and able to work under pressure with a can-do attitude and a desire to win
  • Able to promote an open and informal communication environment that aims at growing mutual trust and teamwork
