About the Platform Engineer (HFT) Role:
In this business critical Platform Engineer (HFT) role, you will be part of an established team focusing on developing their technology innovation practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage on-prem and cloud servers: Provision, configure, monitor, and maintain both on-premises and cloud-based servers
• Tuning and optimisation: Fine tune operating systems and hardware, optimise resource allocation, and identify areas for performance improvement
• Collaboration with developers: Work closely with developer teams to troubleshoot performance issues, provide guidance, and enhance application performance on server infrastructure
• Automation: Focus on automating tasks and processes using scripting and infrastructure-as-code principles for efficient provisioning, deployment, and scaling of server resources
• Enhance monitoring: Improve monitoring capabilities by evaluating and implementing new tools, configuring alerts, and creating dashboards for better system performance visibility
• Efficiency and reducing manual effort: Streamline operations to increase efficiency and reduce manual tasks related to server management

To succeed in this role, you must have experience with performance tuning, bare metal server automation and the ability to help with application benchmarking.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor\'s degree or above in a technical subject (computer science or similar)
• Linux Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Linux, particularly CentOS/RHEL 7x and 8x, with a strong focus on automation, systems engineering, and performance tuning
• Performance Assessment: Skilled in performance benchmarking, capable of measuring and evaluating system performance to identify areas for improvement
• Networking Proficiency: Familiarity with low latency networking technologies, including solutions like onload (e.g., Solarflare/Xilinx), to optimise network performance
• Scripting Skills: Proficient in scripting languages such as bash, Python, and Ruby, enabling automation and efficient system management
• Technology Familiarity: Experience with a range of technologies, including network protocols, configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible, or Chef), containerisation technologies, Google Cloud Platform for cloud infrastructure management, Kubernetes for container orchestration, and the C++ toolchain components (gcc, clang, cmake, and conan) for development purposes
