Coordinate vessel port calls, including pre-arrival planning (berthing, loading/discharge stowage, lifting/lashing, cargo readiness).
Liaise with port authorities, terminal operators, ship agents, and service providers (stevedores, surveyors, maintenance contractors).
Supervise cargo operations: loading, unloading, stowage, securing (lashing), and cargo care. Ensure operations comply with international codes (e.g. IMDG, DG codes, cargo securing).
Ensure safety, compliance, and regulatory adherence: port rules, environmental regulations, company / vetting / classification society / flag state standards.
Monitor performance of equipment and service providers; ensure maintenance, inspections, certifications are in order.
Prepare required documentation: stowage plans, statements of fact, reports on loading/discharge, port facility restrictions, port call costings, etc.
Negotiate contracts, rates, and service level agreements with providers (stevedores, agents, terminals).
* Support internal teams: investigations, cost control, operational improvement, training of shore-side staff (stevedores) in safety & operations standards.
