DESIGNATION : Portfolio Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting directly to the Head of IMG, the incumbent will assist in the following functions: Investment Management

  • Deal origination and preliminary investment thesis before handing over to M&A
  • Provide commercial/business inputs to M&A during transaction process
  • Responsible for commercial/business/operations Due Diligence workstream
  • Work closely with M&A team to project manage transactions
  • Primary driver of Post-Close Portfolio Value Creation for rapid results
  • Responsible for management of portfolio company to achieve the required Business Plan forecast
  • Identify, drive and project manage new initiatives/ process change implementation by working closely with PortCo management team
  • Assist to manage portfolio companies and review of M&A opportunities, including M&A financial modeling, business plan and presentation materials
Asset Management
  • Custodian of overall F&B concept/content development roadmap for FS Retail Group, including all IPs eg. trademarks, recipe build, identity and fit-out manual
  • Create concept proposal ie. Overall concept plan, positioning, strategic rationale, target audience, cuisine type
  • Define menu nomenclature and menu requirements
  • Overview menu R&D innovation and process including menu items, costing, selling price, equipment list, workflow, customer ordering sequence
  • Oversee concept design development process including identity system, store layout, design, elements, fit-out
  • Work in tandem with FS Retail Group for the roll out of first pilot store before handing over to Business Unit
Performance Management
  • Process owner of aligning BU’s performance to meet corporate goals that define success
  • Establish performance governance framework for BU by translating corporate goals to BU/Divisional/Individual (where applicable)
  • Partner BU Heads in providing strategic inputs, sharing of best practices, to help BU align to performance milestones
  • Monitor performance by benchmarking, setting up portfolio dashboards and quarterly performance review sessions
  • Encourage BU Heads to derive catchup plans when performance deviates from goals
  • Performing portfolio companies Board secretariat duties, including their subsidiaries
  • Preparing Board decks and other ad hoc presentation decks to FPG required from portfolio companies
  • Managing and monitoring timelines and ensuring obligations and all post-deal transaction matters (eg. Reserved matters, earn out, PCOA) are adhered to

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • An investment professional with at least 3 years of Investment Banking/M&A transactions experience including technical expertise in performing valuation, financial modelling, financial and business plan analysis, financial/commercial due diligence, risk management analysis and deal structuring
  • A deep penchant for food businesses, F&B M&A experience will be a strong advantage
  • Corporate finance deal advisory background from the Big 4 accounting firms will be a plus
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills; good commercial acumen
  • Ability to manage a large number of complex tasks within tight timelines
  • Persuasiveness, persistency and strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills in combination with the ability to think creatively
  • Proactive and ability to originate deals and develop relationships
  • Proven interpersonal and hands-on team player skills with high level of self-motivation and achievement focus
