:

• This position is for School of Economics (SOE).
• Focuses on studying statistical and machine learning approaches in the real world, contrary to an ideal setting.
• Extract relevant information of the data to make inferences using statistical and machine learning tools.
• Develops efficient and robust algorithms for realistic settings in terms of data and computing resources and collaborates to address major challenges in important applications including public health and economics.
• Results of this project will be used as basis for seeking external grant funding in a follow-up project.
• Postdoctoral fellow is expected to participate in the writing of this follow-up grant proposal. If successfully funded, this Postdoctoral fellow may be given the option to continue in the follow-up project, under mutually agreed terms.
• Responsible for methodology development and implementation of algorithms for data applications.
• Involves disseminating research findings through high-impact publications and conference presentations.

Qualifications:

• PhD in statistics, economics, mathematics, computer science or a related field.
• Strong background in statistical methods and preferably experience or interest in machine learning methods.
• Strong programming skills (preferably in R and/or python).
• Ability to develop analytical methods with real data applications.
• Demonstrated experience or ability to access, process large data sets.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently, manage own workload and meet deadlines.
