The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy is seeking two Postdoctoral Research Fellow (RF) who will assist Dr. Zeewan Lee with applied economics research in the field of Labor Economics and Economics of Aging. Each RF will be in charge of one of the two projects described below:

Project #1 The post-doctoral RF will collaborate with Dr. Lee on the study examining older workers\' comparative advantage in the labor market-exploring how their performances change given their various dimensions of skills and work-settings (i.e., team-work vs independent work). This study will be based on a field experiment.

Project #2 RF will collaborate study on the effect of certification on older individuals\' labor market outcomes. To give further details, this study seeks to conduct a program evaluation to examine the effect of healthcare certification on older individuals\' labour market outcomes, financial security, as well as physical and mental well-being. The impact evaluation will be carried out in two ways: (1) a random controlled trial (RCT) involving a treatment group and a control group of older residents and evaluation of their relative employability, and (2) a survey-based analysis of employers\' perception of the Certification.

The post-doctoral RF will be involved in all aspects of designing and running the experiment and/or program evaluation. Specifically, expected tasks of the post-doctoral researcher include assisting in the experiment design and facilitation, scheduling/ attending meetings with relevant facilitators and stakeholders, overseeing the progress of the field experiment, data-collection/cleaning, and data analyses.

For this job, proficiency in Stata is a must (knowledge in R/excel preferred). Background in Ph.D. level econometrics and at least master\'s level microeconomics is expected. Knowledge or prior research experience that involve conducting field experiments will be highly appreciated.

Duration: This position is a two-year appointment, and is expected to begin in March-April 2023.

Expectations: An ideal candidate should be able to critically evaluate and monitor his/her own analysis processes. The appointed RF is expected to be an independent thinker who are able to proactively seek solutions for the problems on his/her own.   • Ph.D. degree in Economics, Public Policy and/or other related areas.
  • Strong foundations in economics, econometrics, and public policy
  • Proficient in programming languages e.g. R and Stata;
  • Experience in data collection, data cleaning, exploratory analysis, and causal analysis
  • Knowledge or prior research experience that involve conducting field experiments is preferred
  • Motivated to develop as a scholar and interested about issues relating to labor economics and/or economics of aging.
  • Comfortable with English working environment with strong verbal and written skills.
  • Able to commit for the two years from March 2023.
