Job Description


Main Purpose:

  • Looking for an experienced lead engineer to establish and maintain safe, reliable, compliant and cost-efficient engineering practise and to be responsible for the overall project inter-discipline coordination between members of the production, engineering and marine operations support groups, throughout one or more project phases of design, fabrication, modification, transportation and installation.
  • To support company’s newly growing business related to cable lay barge, fall pipe rock installation barge and marine civil works activities in Taiwan.
  • Drive the delivery of engineering projects to meet great challenges and expectation of both external and internal customers.
  • To supervise and guide junior engineers in daily works.

Duty and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)
  • Supervise junior engineers and draft man
  • Take charge of barge modification engineering works, technical work process to ensure project is planned before execution, smooth execution of projects within budget.
  • Understand the work specification of work barges, estimate the material and raise purchase requisition.
  • Conduct lightship survey, towing analysis and lifting analysis.
  • Drafting 2D or 3D drawings in structures, layout and general story board.
  • Identify rules, regulations requirement on the intended modification works.
  • Review, amend and approve design undertaken by engineering department when engineering works is outsourced.
  • Manage the progress and production reporting on the project.
  • Initiate design, guide junior engineer in design & analysis.
  • Understand the full contractual scope of work, contract type and milestone schedule.
Marine Civil Works, i.e. HDD Works
  • Take lead in the marine engineering scope of HDD Works
  • Manage marine modification works , oversea trips are required
  • Plan, review and ensure work execution plan is based on most productive option.
  • Ensure compliance of safety regulations and requirements on site
  • Solve technical problems and initiate site queries to ensure work disruption in minimized and productivity is optimized.
  • Provide advice in respect of construction activities, including testing, commissioning and site supervision.
  • Get all inspection report signed off by relevant party (Owner/Class/third party)
  • Monitor design and specialist consultants and contractors.
  • Identify and hep to share best practice across all project teams and departments.

Prerequisites/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Ship building, civil construction, construction management, or project management.
  • 6 or more years’ experience in either structural, naval architecture, mechanical engineering discipline, experience with ship design firm is preferred
  • Openness to take new projects and take the new challenges.

  • Interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
  • 3 years of project management experience, in coordinating and interfacing with client, construction team and sub-contractors related to marine installation projects.

  • Able to travel oversea and take field assignment.
