The Perse Singapore is looking for an experienced and dedicated educational professional to lead the School, developing excellence in academic, pastoral and extra-curricular areas. Areas of Key Focus: Lead the continued development of the Perse School Singapore, holding true to the vision and values and helping students and staff realise their potentials. Lead the student and staff recruitment strategy and to advise Sing-Ed Global Schoolhouse on resourcing of the School. Lead and collaborate with the wider team of senior staff and heads of department, promoting the professional development of staff, and ensuring that high standards of professional performance are maintained. Direct an effective marketing strategy and work with the Marketing and Admissions Manager towards achieving agreed targets. Develop an engaging narrative for current parents via events, talks, newsletters and other communications. Work with Sing-Ed Global Schoolhouse to establish appropriate budgetary management and to maintain budgetary oversight of the school. Ensure quality assurance for the School and to liaise regularly with The Perse School Cambridge to ensure the effective implementation of the education plan, in-line with The Perse values and ethos. Lead the formulation of School policies and implementation of inspection protocols in liaison with The Perse School Cambridge. Lead the preparation for any school inspections including the annual inspection by The Perse School Cambridge. Produce a School Development Plan in liaison with The Perse School Cambridge, which translates strategy into clear and measurable targets for implementation and monitoring. Lead the implementation and development of the Cambridge International Curriculum to ensure an outstanding and stimulating experience for every child. Lead the whole staff in ensuring the safeguarding procedures implemented during staff recruitment, induction, and during the operation of the school, are to the highest standards, in-line with those in UK schools. Promote the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people we have a duty to care for. Work closely with The Perse School Cambridge to develop high quality links for students and staff that benefit the school community and wider joint-ventures between both parties. Lead staff in establishing and developing suitable home-school communication systems. Report in person and/or in written format to the Advisory Council. Qualities: Possesses an in-built dynamism and enterprise, adopting a flexible approach to the inevitable challenges of developing a recently established school. Be an inspirational and innovative leader who combines an eye for detail and rigorous implementation with an intelligent understanding of the key academic and pastoral issues facing schools today. Able to move seamlessly between the big picture and detailed thinking. Has a sharp and analytical mind that can see both the big picture and the small details. Appreciates challenges and opportunities of working in different cultural contexts. Be a visible presence amongst pupils and staff, encouraging and modelling teaching which is inspirational and creative. Understands the training and resources needed to teach learners with diverse needs including additional educational needs and second language learners of English. Able to be clear and persuasive in communications, with excellent interpersonal skills and is comfortable working in a dynamic, international environment with all the practical, as well as cultural, challenges, and opportunities that this job entails. Places high store in the nature and quality of professional relationships with staff and students. Has excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to motivate and inspire others - both colleagues and pupils. Possesses PR skills, gravitas, and public speaking talents needed to represent the School on public occasions. Adopts a strong pastoral approach and is experienced in handling sensitive issues involving elementary-age pupils and their families. Expected Level of Experience: There is a strong preference for candidates who have been involved in the leadership of schools in Singapore or South East Asia and it is essential that there is a strong cultural awareness and alignment with the cultural context of the school's operating environment. Bachelor / Honours Degree or equivalent qualification. PGCE or relevant teaching qualification. At least 10 years of experience in education. Experience of working in and, preferably of leadership in, a high-quality British school or similar profile international school. Experience in recruiting staff and pupil admissions. Experience in leading staff development and staff appraisals. Experience in creating and managing budgets. Fluency in English is essential. Desirable But Not Essential Experience: Start-up schools and the recruitment of students and staff. Cambridge International curriculum. Working in more than one high quality school. Initial discussions will be held remotely or at The Perse School Cambridge. Final interviews will take place in Singapore. The Perse School Singapore is committed to child protection, safeguarding, and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post. In addition, interviews will explore candidates' suitability to work with children.
