Job Description

The Production Engineer has primary accountability to the Production Manager to interpret Production Orders, Customer BOMs and Customer drawings in order to prepare BOMs, SOPs, Work Instructions and In-Process Inspection Forms so that the Production Team can manufacture these components. He is also required to prepare costings for insulation kit enquiries. He/she is also accountable for the preparation of necessary technical drawings. The Production Engineer also has the responsibility to actively support the Production Supervisor in achieving excellence in manufacturing operations and product quality.





To achieve these objectives, the Production Engineer must carry out the following responsibilities:


Prepare costings for insulation kit enquiries. Interpret Production Order requirements, accompanying customer BOMs and technical drawings. Prepare and send the following in time to the Production Supervisor for commencement of Production.
BOMs Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) (if needed) Work Instructions (if needed) Prepare Inspection Forms and send to the Production Supervisor for in-process inspection. Prepare and update routing and operation functions in SAP. Prepare and verify dimensions of gauge/jig designs and also technical drawings using computer aided design (CAD). Transfer raw material inventory within SAP, whilst working closely with Production Supervisor on raw material availability. Update Finance periodically on list of production machines in used. Using applicable Lean Manufacturing methodologies, actively work with the Production Supervisor and Production Manager in driving process improvements and optimisation to boost productivity and efficiency, while enhancing quality, production and cost-effectiveness. This could include training for Production Supervisors and Team Leads. Review and update SOPs and Work Instructions (for machines & products), and maintain detailed records of manufacturing processes, changes, and improvements. Investigate on product non-conformity, problems, analyse root causes and derive resolutions and maintain records of non-conformity. Comply with safety policies, identify potential hazards in daily operations and recommend improvements to maintain a safe workplace. Supervise, mentor and train the Production Admin. Support the Production Supervisor in handling any emergency situations. Provide technical support to the Sales team when required. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; able to read and interpret technical drawings Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Basic training in Lean Manufacturing methodologies would be preferred.
