is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC machine programs used in the manufacturing of
server racks, cabinets, and data centre infrastructure products
. This role ensures fabrication processes--including laser cutting, punching, bending, and welding--are executed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with engineering specifications and production schedules.
The role works closely with
design engineers, production supervisors, and machine operators
to translate technical drawings into precise machine programs while continuously improving manufacturing efficiency, quality, and material utilization.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and optimize CNC programs for
fiber laser cutting, turret punching, bending, and other fabrication equipment
.
Interpret
engineering drawings, 3D models, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
to generate accurate and optimized CNC programs.
Prepare
setup sheets, nesting layouts, and detailed work instructions
for production teams.
Optimize material utilization and machine cycle times through effective
nesting and toolpath strategies
.
Coordinate with
production, maintenance, and engineering teams
to ensure programs are compatible with machine capabilities and tooling availability.
Troubleshoot, modify, and improve programs to resolve production issues and enhance output quality.
Maintain and manage the
CNC programming database
, ensuring proper revision control and documentation.
Support
new product introductions (NPI)
by developing prototype programs and validating manufacturability.
Collaborate with
Quality Assurance
to ensure compliance with product specifications, tolerances, and standards.
Provide
technical guidance and training
to machine operators on setup and program execution.
Identify and implement opportunities for
automation, efficiency improvement, and continuous improvement
in programming and production processes.
Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma or Degree in
Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline
.
Minimum
2-5 years of experience
in CNC programming, preferably within
sheet metal fabrication
.
Strong knowledge of CNC machinery (e.g.,
Amada, Trumpf, or equivalent
).
Proficiency in
CAM software
such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent tools.
Familiarity with
G-code and NC programming standards
.
Solid understanding of fabrication processes including
laser cutting, punching, bending, welding, and powder coating
.
High attention to detail with strong
analytical and problem-solving skills
.
Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight production timelines.
Preferred Skills (Optional)
Experience with
ERP systems
and digital manufacturing data.
Exposure to
Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Continuous Improvement methodologies
.
Familiarity with programming software such as
AP100, CypCut, or equivalent
.
Basic knowledge of
3D CAD modeling
.
EMS Responsibility
Understand, implement, and comply with
Legrand's Environmental Policy and Environmental Management System (EMS)
requirements.
Communicate and report environmental matters to the
Superior / EMR / EHS Officer
.
Understand actions required during
normal, abnormal, and emergency environmental situations
.
Participate in and support environmental initiatives including
training programs, environmental projects, and audits
.
Recognize the environmental impact of assigned work and take responsibility to control and mitigate such impacts.
