Job Purpose
The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy is seeking to hire a program manager (strategic partnerships) for its Initiative on Environmental and Sustainability (IES)
About IES
The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy’s Initiative on Environmental and Sustainability (IES) is a “Fit for Purpose” Policy Institute for Environment and Sustainability in Asia. Our aim is to create Southeast Asia’s leading policy think tank within a university setting integrating research. Our mission is to offer “fit for purpose” policy analysis with which to assist governments, non-governmental organizations, and businesses achieve their environmental and sustainability goals. We will accomplish this mission by LKYSPP’s analytic capacity of leading sustainability focused faculty and staff to integrate research, teaching, and outreach for fostering purposeful deliberations, and innovative solutions, for ameliorating critical challenges.
The successful applicant will be charged with helping build Southeast Asia’s leading environmental and sustainability policy think tank, to be housed within the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. The role holder will be responsible for identifying and developing innovative and collaborative philanthropic and partnership opportunities with corporate donors and supporters. They will provide surge support and capacity building to develop new partnership models, retain and grow relationships with existing partners, actively track and analyse country and regional pipeline and portfolios, and ensure use of well-coordinated and competitive proposal management processes. They will actively support growth of the region's income by leading on key multi-country or strategic funding opportunities from the private sector and foundations.
The position will require strong skills in administrative and programmatic management, as well as stakeholder engagement. The former will include managing internal organizational efforts within LKYSPP & NUS generally. The latter will include, as well as external stakeholder engagement with Singaporean, ASEAN, and global governance officials, as well as non-governmental, business, and philanthropic organizations. The latter includes writing substantive policy briefs, proposals for funding, and conference participation. The role holder will report to the Director of PPIES.
Scoping, cultivating, and managing partnerships - 50%
Support on early engagement, scoping, and ideation for partnerships with philanthropy, the private sector, and multi-stakeholder coalitions.
Liaise with, and help coordinate, the team of LKYSPP staff engaged in building PPIES including
The core faculty team, the Dean’s office and Vice deans for Research, Teaching, and outreach
External donor engagement, competitive grants, outreach, executive education, web site development, communications
Lead engagement and manage the relationship of donors
Attend external meetings with potential business and philanthropic partners, as needed, supporting design workshops and leading key internal stakeholders through early conversations.
Proactively identify and develop opportunities within new and existing partners.
High-quality programme development for philanthropic partners - 15%
Help produce high quality, compelling, and accurate materials to engage businesses and secure partnerships, including concept notes, specific thematic work overviews and full proposals.
Working with the director, proactively address challenges that may hinder the proposal development process, where necessary.
Prepares all necessary groundwork for multi-country or multi-regional proposal development and management, assembles proposal teams for multi-country opportunities, provides effective proposal management at regional level and undertakes quality assurance of proposals to ensure high quality competitive proposals in order to successfully secure business partners' funds at scale.
Portfolio Management - 10%
Administrative
Help finalize and implement the action plan
Including managing as assuring coherence of the multitude of tasks that staff and faculty are undertaking
Understand and effectively report to the Director on thematic/program gaps, co-financing gaps, and operational sustainability gaps.
Capacity Strengthening and Knowledge Management - 10%
Support meaningful engagement in our external training building efforts, affiliated faculty, and partners
Manage “things to do list” so that most urgent matters are addressed efficiently, while ensuring medium and long term objectives are met.

Qualifications
BA/MA in one of the social or policy sciences
Minimum 2 years experience working with stakeholders in a University setting
Knowledge of environmental and sustainability changes relevant to Singapore and ASEAN
Familiarity with the local (Singapore) and international ecosystem of funding (including grant and philanthropic funding) opportunities
Strong ability to help administer grant proposals for competitive and non-competitive grant types
Strong interpersonal and persuasive communication ability
Ability to confidently take the lead in the institute’s grant management, stakeholder liaison and outreach
Demonstration of a high level of creativity, sense of initiative and enthusiasm in taking on new projects and seeing them to completion
Support in institute’s conference/events management
Methodical and organized, with an eye for detail
