Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute overall strategy, workplan and budget/resources for PDE in consultation with steering committee, advisors and A*STAR HQ functions.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to gain alignment for the deliverables of PDE. Build up a strong, multi-disciplinary team of engineers, product developers and project managers
  • Secure budget, sponsorship/investments (in-kind /cash) and strategic partnerships to advance PDE's mission
  • Lead and contribute to strategic discussions with existing A*STAR teams on new and future collaboration models with partners such as healthcare institutions, design houses, suppliers etc.
  • Interface closely with A*STAR entities i.e. ENT, BMRC, SERC and HMT HTPO to understand the project pipeline and to support the appropriate projects that can feed into PDE.
  • To work with healthcare partners to create strong pipeline of projects for deployment at local sites.
  • To provide leadership and guidance to the engineering team and their projects in the following:
  • New product development from prototype through to early production and user testing
  • Collaborate and communication in an interdisciplinary team from design conception through verification testing of the system, ensuring designs are reliable and scalable
  • Identify and conduct critical tasks analysis on performance requirements to optimize usability
  • Ability to support development, plan protocols for verification and validation activities such as usability testing and draft reports for regulatory submission.
  • Optimize design for manufacturing and develop manufacturing processes
  • Cooperate with contract manufacturers and design studios to deliver high-quality products
  • To support in-house training initiatives to ramp up the knowledge and on the job training in productization and project management
Job Requirements
  • M.S in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Mechanical Design
  • 15+ years of experience in medical device hardware or software design and development and associated skills relating to QMS, design and developing and testing
  • Experience with product development and design control from research/concept to product manufacture for at least 3 products, experience with SaMD
  • Up to date with latest QA/RA requirements i.e. country regulations, standards
  • Familiarity with setting up a ISO13485 prototyping and productization facility a plus
  • Ability to own supplier/vendor relations including evaluation and coordination
  • Experience in handling legal agreements, stakeholder relationships
  • Possess excellent networking, communication and writing skills
  • Demonstrate ability to juggle priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Enjoy working in a small team, start-up environment
