Job Description


An exciting new opportunity is available for an energetic, enthusiastic and skilled Programme Manager to support the second phase of the Asian Skin Microbiome Programme based at A*STAR Skin Research Labs. The programme is a collaborative Singapore-based initiative which connects a number of academic organizations with the aim to develop fundamental knowledge on skin microbes in order to identify and develop better strategies to improve skin health. The role will be based at A*STAR Skin Research Labs on the Biopolis campus.

You will be skilled at developing and implementing project plans as well as coordinating project teams to support and deliver the needs of the programme. The key components of the programme will be the study of host-microbe interactions and understanding the key metabolite communication, and the further development of a skin microbiome data repository derived from human cohorts that will be harnessed for multi-omics integrated analysis.

About the programme

The ASMP is a collaborative industry-facing initiative, which studies various aspects related to the skin microbiome and how it interacts with the host. The programme is across institutions and the role will be based at Biopolis.

About the role

  • Coordinating project teams to support and deliver the needs of the Programme across the 3 work packages: - Host Microbe Interactions, Metabolite Communication, Cohorts and Omics Analysis.
  • Key to the success of the programme will be establishing and maintaining operational support and clear lines of communication and engagement with multiple stakeholders of all levels internally and externally.
  • The role will, therefore, include coordinating activities with a wide range of collaborators across Singapore and internationally. These could be academic and industrial depending on the programme direction.
  • Facilitating workshops, organizing scientific meetings, taking meeting minutes, circulating action points, and tracking interactions with industry partners.
  • Works with industry development managers (IDMs) to facilitate the development of research collaboration, non-disclosure, and other documentation between relevant groups (project team, corporate partners, business development, legal, etc.). Includes identifying resources required during project scoping. Ensures external partners? requirements and project scope are aligned, and expectations are managed accordingly.
  • Having an understanding of the complex nature of the scientific, operational, and logistic challenges will be an essential part of the role in order to find innovative and creative solutions to complicated or multifaceted problems when working with internal collaborators and external partners.
  • Together with the lead Principal Investigators (PIs), you will oversee the progress of the programme, track the KPIs and document the meetings between the programme leads and also any company interactions. We are required to submit a yearly report and the programme manager will draft these together with the Lead PIs.
  • Tracking budgets to ensure accurate expenditure and resource management, including the main grant and also major external funding from grants and industry partners. Reporting and risk management on budgets together with institute administration teams.
  • Project closing: capturing lessons learnt, identifying areas for re-engagement/TD submission
  • Liaising with Corp Comms/Research Impact manager to bring publicity to ASMP. Articulate the research impact in various media and engagement channels.
Requirements

About the candidate

  • PhD holder in relevant fields
  • The candidate needs to be energetic and enthusiastic with a willingness to learn new skills and be adaptable to multiple tasks.
  • You will be skilled at developing and implementing project plans.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and maintaining key project documentation to a high standard.
  • Experience of facilitating effective decision-making in a scientific context.
  • Science degree in a relevant subject (or equivalent experience).
  • Prior training in project management or familiarity with project management tools would be advantageous.
  • Experience in organising and managing academic or industry projects would be advantageous.
Skills and abilities

  • Ability to quickly identify technical and process challenges and break down complex problems into actionable steps.
  • High level of organisational skills with the ability to plan and schedule multiple projects effectively.
  • Ability to work with frequently changing day-to-day tasks and the capability to interpret management information to amend strategic plans.
  • Highly developed communication skills with experience of dealing with people at all levels successfully.
  • Ability to prioritise, manage workload, and deliver agreed activities consistently on time.
  • Good level of influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent networking and relationship building skills
  • Ability to effectively handle both internal and external partners, some with competing agendas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
