The OpportunityWe are looking for an ambitious Property Underwriter who has the skills and drive and to grow a profitable Property book and develop her/his career in Swiss Re as one of the world\'s global reinsurance leaders.Swiss Re\'s facultative property book mainly contains general property but also a significant proportion of Power Generation and Downstream Energy business, which will be handled by you. Training for all lines of business will be provided.You will be part of our Singapore Facultative Team to grow a profitable Property facultative book primarily in Southeast Asia and the Indian sub-continent, Through executing our Swiss Re Fac\'s go-to market strategies and promoting our presence and propositions to brokers and clients. The role also entails growing and steering portfolios of SwiftRe\xc2\xae business, Swiss Re\'s cutting-edge end-to-end digital global platform for small businesses.You will be originating, analyzing, pricing and underwriting Property risks and portfolios, as well as deploying capacity appropriately according to risk and portfolio quality and Group guidelines within the framework of underwriting authority.Your core territorial remit will be Singapore, SouthEast Asia, but you are expected to work closely with other regional markets support their underwriting and business origination.Swiss Re is a bottom-line driven company and your performance will be measured based on bottom line growth.The role reports into the Head Property Fac SouthEast Asia & India.Depending on candidate experience, this role can be palced at Vice President level.The TeamThis is a great opportunity to join the Swiss Re Singapore Property Facultative Team, part of the Asia P&C Facultative Underwriting community across our Asia Pacific local business units which share the common vision and goals to collaboratively grow our Fac business across Asia territories from Japan, Korea to Greater China, Southeast Asia, India and Australia and New Zealand. • Grow a profitable and balanced Property Facultative book, including Power Generation and Downstream Energy, in the territories assigned
• Implement the Property Go-To Market strategy to deliver planned property portfolio targets, sharpen and articulate our risk appetites to our clients and brokers, within stated underwriting guidelines and other governance rules
• Proactively manage portfolio for sustainable profitable growth according to Swiss Re\'s Target Liability Profile
• Be the first port of call for the markets assigned, and provide high quality, timely and appropriate service to clients and brokers whilst complying with underwriting authority and guidelines
• Drive business origination and enhance relationship building with clients and brokers. Ensure robust new business pipelines and improve renewal retention to maximise Swiss Re Fac\'s commercial position.
• Mitigate volatility, manage line size and explore alternative approaches which allow us to write business profitably and meet clients\' needs
• Ensure diligent use of pricing/modelling tools and robust reflection of pricing to exposure and risk quality. Proactively improve data transparency and accuracy.
• Support underwriting peer reviews & audits. Implement audit recommendations.
• Provide underwriting support to other Swiss Re offices and handle ad hoc tasks as required
• Proactively manage operational risks to ensure Operational Risk Management (ORM) compliance. Contribute to the ORM process and internal risk reviews

• Develop a profitable, diversified and highly automated SwiftRe\xc2\xae portfolio, improve efficiency and automation within the underwriting control framework
• Promote SwiftRe\xc2\xae propositions, develop new partners, expand into new territories, and deepen penetration in existing markets and partners
• Steer the portfolios for profitable growth, contribute to underwriting parameters setting, optimizing automation, response time and underwriting control
• Improve SwiftRe\xc2\xae functionality, underwriting control and user-friendliness working closely with the SwiftRe\xc2\xae Product Team
• Support product set-up and adapt generic products to local market needs
• Ensure timely response to clients and brokers, handle daily submissions and special acceptances, answer client\'s queries and provide coaching to clients and support SwiftRe\xc2\xae client on-boarding

General:

• Contribute to the Swiss Re\'s market presence and client franchise of being a reinsurance subject matter expert and go-to market through working closely with cross-functional teams including Client Managers, Solutions and Treaty Underwriters
• Actively seek and procure opportunities in the market through high quality client and broker interactions, relationship building and engagement
• Proactively liaise with the Claims Team to stay abreast of claims trends and issues of market/client companies and their profitability
• Proactively streamline underwriting processes and workflows in collaboration with Business Services and Business Management
• Leads / participates in projects as required

Knowledge & Skills:

• Deep knowledge of all aspects of industrial and commercial property underwriting: all classes of insured risk, contractual details/setup
• 5 years or more of relevant underwriting experience and up-to-date insurance and reinsurance product and market know-how or in a corresponding reinsurance/broker area, preferably in Southeast Asia; experience in other emerging markets will be considered
• Completed ACII qualification is an advantage
• Comfortable working in a highly collaborative, multi-cultural matrix organization
