Meta is seeking a strategic thinker to join our team as Public Policy Manager, Malaysia. You will work on issues related to the Internet and Meta\'s mission of giving people the power to build community and bringing the world closer together. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding Meta\'s policies and business priorities, being able to communicate those to policymakers, academia, civil society and other stakeholders. Additionally, you will collaborate with colleagues across the business and the globe, engage with trade associations and third party groups. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in emerging technologies and policy work, skilled at working cross-functionally and accomplished at engaging policymakers and constituents to build partnerships. The successful applicant will become part of a team that is dealing with some of the most interesting public policy challenges of our times including privacy, safety, and freedom of expression. This position will be based in our Kuala Lumpur office in Malaysia and will report to the Head of Public Policy for Singapore & Malaysia and International Institutions.Public Policy Manager, Malaysia ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic policy advice to key business and policy team partnersWork with policymakers, academics, civil society and private sector organizations, including local, regional and international organizations, on issues of safety, security, content policy and other technology-relevant public policy concernsRepresent Meta in meetings and public events with policymakers and other stakeholdersEvaluate the impact of legislative, regulatory, and industry proposalsRespond to questions and consultations from external stakeholders on relevant policy issuesInterface with internal partners and clients regarding Meta products, policies, practices, and guidelinesAssist in the development and management of Meta\'s policies on particular issues or product areasCollaborate with product, legal, business and other teams to evaluate new and existing products and features to ensure they reflect Meta\'s policies, values and principlesMinimum Qualifications7+ years of demonstrated experience managing public policy and/or government relations and advocacy workDemonstrated understanding of Malaysia\'s political system, environment and institutionsAbility to exercise strong judgment and persuasive skills, creativity, and ability to work in a dynamic environmentFluency in Bahasa Melayu and the English language are required as this role will collaborate with external stakeholders whose usual business languages are Bahasa Melayu and EnglishBachelor\'s degreePreferred QualificationsExperience in policy work for a multinational corporation or government preferredKnowledge of tech or emerging tech related policy issues preferredAdvanced degree in public policy, a related field or law degree is a plusLocationsAbout MetaMeta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
