Procures materials / equipment vital for the Shipyard\'s operations in a cost-affective manner and in appropriate quantities within the approved budget.
Divides and distributes daily requisitions to other Purchasers within the section.
Reviews requisitions and clarifies with the user departments on any discrepancy or incomplete information with regards to specification, quality, quantity and delivery requirements.
Recommends substitution where a saving in cost or improved delivery will result.
Solicits and analyses quotations for stock and non-stock items.
Selects the most competitive source and negotiates for the best deal.
Obtains required approvals and places orders.
Prepares, checks and initials purchase orders.
Expedites orders to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Handles adjustments with vendors involving replacement & rejection of materials not conforming to purchase specifications, return of surplus materials, cancellation of orders, etc
Compiles and maintain a library of catalogues, price lists, etc. to be used for reference.
Visits vendor plants to familiarise with the key personnel analyse facilities and capabilities.
Ensure the safety of personnel through compliance with Occupational Safety and Health and Environmental Regulations
Any other tasks and responsibilities as assigned from time to time.
Requirements:
Bachelor\'s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or related engineering disciplines, Diploma holders with relevant experience are welcomed to apply
Entry Level candidates are welcome to apply (On Job Training will be provided)
Candidates with relevant experience may be considered for a senior role
Good contacts with marine product supplies
Conversant with International Trade Terms
Familiar with the marine products and equipment to be purchased will be advantageous
Willing to work long hours during weekdays and on Saturdays when necessary
Able to work under pressure and in a fast paced environment
Able to motivate in a challenging work environment
Good supervisory, communication, negotiation, interpersonal, analytical and numerical skills.
