Overview. Reporting to the Chief Radiation Physicist, you will provide scientific, safety and technical support in a radiation therapy department (with supervision). Job Responsibilities. You will Overview. Reporting to the Chief Radiation Physicist, you will provide scientific, safety and technical support in a radiation therapy department (with supervision). Job Responsibilities. You will be primarily responsible (80%) for the following : Radiation dosimetry, calibration and in-vivo measurements. Quality assurance of treatment machines, treatment planning systems and dosimetry equipment. Radiation safety measurements and administration. Radiation treatment plan quality assurance. Equipment commissioning You will be secondarily responsible (20%) for the following: Professional development, training and orientation in all areas of radiation therapy physics. Requirements. A postgraduate degree in Medical Physics is preferred. A postgraduate degree in Physics or Engineering is also acceptable. From 3-5 years of clinical experience preferred. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Knowledge and understanding of current radiation therapy principles, methods, procedures, and techniques. Knowledge and understanding of the operational characteristics, usage, and safety parameters of a comprehensive range of radiation therapy equipment and facilities. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment. Computer hardware and software knowledge and skills. Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops. Knowledge of radiation safety principles, methods, and procedures Knowledge of regulations, guidelines, and standards for the provision of medical physics/radiation therapy to patients. Working Conditions Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 20 kilograms. Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment. Occasionally work may need to be completed outside normal working hours including weekends.
