We are looking for a R&D Process Engineer to plan, organize and perform a broad range of research and/or development activity by utilizing a high level of advanced, specialized knowledge to create differentiating technology while using professional judgment with minimal supervision.

A day in the life of...

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve multiple objectives, including, but not limited to:

• Plan, organize and perform trials and experiments (bench-top, pilot plant, and factory scale) as required to complete process and product development projects.
• Drive product and process conceptualization, development and scale-up.
• Interface on a project implementation team by assisting with hand-off from development to start-up and providing technical training as required to the operating company personnel
• Function as a project team leader as assigned. Required activities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide effective project leadership and be mentored by technology champions as needed for development.
• Fulfilling all requirements of the Product Development Process and Nestec regarding "absoluteaEUR deliverables for each phase.
• Complete all required documentation and project reporting in a timely manner
• Adherence to Company policy on protection of patent rights and intellectual property.

• Further develop R&D expertise and competence in the manufacture of pet food (dry, wet, treats) including the monitoring and evaluation of new technologies.
• Research and propose R&D projects utilizing technical innovations/renovations applicable to Nestle Purina's business strategy.
• Conduct all activity in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and all required Company policies and procedures.
• Effectively communicate results through oral presentations and timely, written technical documentation and reports
• Provide technical leadership to create original, differentiating technology with a high level of ability to apply relevant scientific knowledge to products/processes
• Further develop R&D expertise and competence in the manufacture of pet food (dry, wet, treats)
• Provide a resource to the Business that can be used to coordinate the building of new or the renovation of existing pet food facilities
• To provide an additional and credible source of Technical Support to the Markets
• Develop Nestle Purina's core competence in all areas of pet food manufacturing by monitoring and evaluating new technologies
• Develop particular knowledge in the areas of pet food manufacturing
• Maintain and improve upon the communications between R&D and external contacts
• Possess a recognized expertise and keep current in engineering discipline
• Propose and execute projects utilizing technical innovations/renovations that may be applicable to Nestle Purina's business strategy
• Actively acts as an expert consultant within Nestle Purina and Nestle in area of technical expertise
• Establish and maintain good relationships with vendors and counterparts at other Nestle operations
• Training of personnel from the client companies and within the Center as required
• Expected to support business request and provide inputs autonomously
• Travel up to 30% depending upon project and trial needs. Majority of travel will be regional and international
• Practice safety in the work area

What will make you successful

• B.S. in Engineering
• A minimum of five years experience in a similar field
• Manufacturing experience within a production, engineering and maintenance role
• Specialized knowledge in food processing or preferably meat processing experience is preferred
• Broad range of technical knowledge outside area of specialty
• Skilled in quality assurance
• Skilled in data analysis
• Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Must be able to manage multiple projects/priorities
• Pro-active/Self-Starter
• Good sense of business/technical interrelationships
• Computer literacy
